I worked with a start-up that focused on providing software for private family offices. These are for UHNW people who have more than 100 million USD. They do not want to brag that they go to the Bentley of banks. They want to keep it as pri

India, Indonesia, and China are already using WeChat, GoPay, PayTM. I'm not sure what Bitcoins or Libra can offer that e-wallets don't already provide. And these e-wallets, unlike crypto, work well with existing gov't regulat

Be it Pocket or anything else, I learned that processing and reviewing is just as important part of the reading process. I try to commit time on the weekends to read 15 articles/PDF per day (saved on Pocket). I take down notes on artic

I'm curious, where do you work now and who are your clients? I worked in Asia and the work culture with the Chinese (mainlanders) and those of Chinese-descent (Chinese Malaysians, Chinese Singaporean) was more challenging than working

I have not, but I'll check it out. I've read "The Futurist" which is also a satirical look. I think the field can be made better with a healthy dose of introspection via satire, so I welcome reading this book. Thanks!

madamelic, yeah I've gotten a lot of funny looks from people. When I explain that its relates to scenario planning, it sounds a bit less silly. There are some govts, like in Finland or Singapore, that invest heavily in futures studies.

Not the OP, but I can share what I got from Black Panther: 1. When they're in the market, people are still walking around in sandals and even barefoot. This is counter to either ultra-sleek hygienic futures or the film noir/cyberp

Haha, yes, I'd trade futurist for data scientist. In academic circles, we're called foresight or futures studies field but no one knows what that is.

I agree with and excited about this development. I'm an academically trained futurist and I'm continually frustrated by the future as being techno-solutionist-driven and mostly Western or some Hong Kong/Tokyo future. Black Pa

I see I'm being down-voted. That's okay, I'm just curious to know your thoughts. There has been plenty of discussions if Singapore needs a "hinterland" to survive and if Johor can be that hinterland. I'm leanin

Again, I'm not sure what's the difference between Singapore and most of Southeast Asia and say Latin America, if you are talking about challenging the gov't brazenly. Its only in Western Europe, Australia, and Canada where I

Agreed. If Singapore could somehow unite or federate with Johor, I think it would be perfect. There would be the hyper-capitalist CBD, suburban "Heartland" and the wilder (relatively speaking) Johor where people could experiment.

The great thing about Singapore (and Kuala Lumpur) is that you can travel to other countries easily and cheaply. That said, Singapore has some of the best cocktail bars in the world (they can keep up with New York & London), lively muse

I think you are a bit mistaken here. I have lived in Singapore, Malaysia, and Indonesia for over 10 years: 1. Drug laws are harsh in Southeast Asia, but Singapore is the only place you don’t have to worry about bribery. It’s probably the on
