pypa, the Python Packaging Authority, is a working group that maintains many of the Python packaging projects (e.g pip) and therefore pipfile in time will likely be the new accepted standard.

Agreed for some things but a massive limitation of Lambda with its timeout of 300 seconds is that it cannot be used for long running tasks. If this feature lands it sounds like it will give the ability to run any container arbitrarily and p

Learning Ansible is not easier than dragging and dropping a file onto a server and having it run with no extra work. They weren't saying it was hard but that it is not as easy as PHP. PHP is one level up from a static site for most b

As a contractor for the last 6 years in London, I have never seen a day rate prorated. The hours of various companies change which does end up with the same result in a way but the actual amount should be defined by you.

I wish I could edit my parent comment but alas. The key point was missed: we were dealing with very short, small videos. If you are dealing with longer or large videos, it's simply not feasible on Lambda. As for costings, unfortunately

Sure: you likely don't want to be dealing with large files on Lambda. Why? * The maximum timeout window for a function invocation is 300 seconds * The maximum available temp disk space per instance is 500MB * Memory is maxed at 1.5GB I

No! Thank you for pointing that out; I've always taken "limit" to mean hard but I shall no longer. We had other reasons to move and it did end up working well for that project and others, but I can obviously only say that wit

Thanks to all the FFmpeg contributors! Fantastic piece of software. On a project I was recently on recently we started hitting the per-region concurrent transcode limits on Amazon's Elastic Transcoder. [1] Instead of sharding over pipe

Many congrats on the release & also thanks to the Scrapy team for the effort involved. As far as I am concerned, this was the last package I used heavily that still had not made the upgrade. For the Python community: which packages are

Yes. Each spider in Scrapy has a "start_urls" parameter/method, so you'd just need to fill that up with all your domains and make sure the spider has freedom to crawl across domains. Each URL would be accessed, you'

If everyone had such a negative attitude as that we never would have had Google. Countless sites depend on web scraping. You can scrape and be a good netizen, the two are not mutually exclusive.

Would it be possible to give us a better ETA on when something is likely to be implemented? I was thinking of using recurly and this has put me off somewhat.

To be clear to anyone reading this who didn't read the rest of the thread: the docs are hosted on readme.io (YC) and not with a Phoenix build. Readme.io have stated they are working on a better nojs solution.

Phoenix is more like Flask in that regard and definitely doesn't come batteries included like Django (no auth, no admin, no cache backends etc) so it would be more work to build something as full-featured as DRF on top of it. Having sa
