I've been using beancount [1] and fava [2] to organise my personal finances for a while now, my beancount file has about 3 years of transactions/financial data in it. I've automated a few things but it's still largely a

Some of my friend groups have moved to Signal, it's ok in a "good enough" sort of way but it's not a perfect replacement. I'll have a hard time persuading family groups to move though, WhatsApp and Facebook are cult

Really hope they pull this off. The initial target of the M1 Mini is probably the smart choice, I'd imagine all the power management stuff in the laptops might be a big task to reverse engineer

I'd be interested to know if Jess Frazelle, linked in the post still maintains her Dockerize-everything setup. I remember a few years ago her write-up on that stuff. Would be good to hear her thoughts a few years on

Growing up I remember playing a lot of AoE and AoE2 with my school friends online, over dialup connections. I was never into any competitive scene, we were all probably very bad at the game but it was fun. The enjoyment came from the buildi

Author here, hello. The post glosses over some aspects of the implementation, for example to fit some executables into an image you can optionally compress the data with gzip and encode that instead It also supports encoding at two-bit and

The big weight around their neck was releasing it on the last gen consoles. I suspect it wasn't that high on their priorities to optimise it on 7+ year old hardware. It's a tough one, maybe they could have bit the bullet early and
