Yea, I know why. And I'm mad about it. And I love my Class 1 and am mad they are hard to find. I imagine we'd agree that CAFE was poorly done.

And those killer Class 2b and 3+ pickups. Manufacturers push those because of less environmental regs on those vs the perfectly viable Class 1.

What's the joke here? There are like a dozen Fidelity trusts on the list. Edit: my Karma been flapping on this one (bot-monitor, and I'm on vacation). Is the joke because of Puritanical ideals and Twitter don't get along? Re

Sure. My point is that VLC gets a special place. It "just works" for a decade before MPV, still does and across 3+ platforms! MPV is great too! I think it's important to also recognize how rad VLC was and continues to be.

We love VLC because it plays anything, everytime. And has done this, for a long time, since times when other players struggled. Maybe it's not the "Best" - it is still the goodest.

Well, I like the link you already posted and expect to see the arXiv one posted to HN as well. I have a home-brew solution for pulling feeds and will be cross reference with your info. One small impact!

The link claims we could save "100kWh per day" and there is a dataset provided (I didn't dig in that yet)

I do. CEOs are just picking lanes. Lanes defined by their crew. (The Captain doesn't determine the answer, they pick the answer from options provided by the crew). And AI can factor in much more than any human. So...feed the workers da

This thread has some mentions of memory-safe issues. Has anyone tried a Go or Rust sshd in their production? I've had some dreams of a "tighter" sshd for my universe and have toyed (unsuccessfully) with a Go one. Anyone want

Having an audience is a key first step. If the product/service isn't "done" yet I'd spend time on audience as a priority over features and pricing.

I have dreamed about a swappable engine. Like, a wrapper that does my history and tabs and book marks - but let's me move from rendering in Chrome or Gecko or Servo or whatever.

Cool! We use this but never had too much problems with disk usage (I/o or size). But, were only using to deploy configs across multiple nodes. And we read the local copy directly!

I like the inversion of the problem. I think from the hiring side it would be awesome to just search for ideal candidates. By way of example, UpWork gives some filtering options but seems limited to keyword matching. I'd thought about

Would be cool to load the profile in near real time. It's not terribly difficult. Give folk a spinny-page while it loads? Timeout after 8s?

Deploy an updated, but immutable image. Like, Partition1 has v1 and you boot, read only. Then the upgrade image goes in Partition2 and boots readonly. You can still upgrade but every boot of the image is from the same fixed state. And you d

Yep, that bit me/my teams more than once. But this case we had the commit from CVS showing it was just a fat-finger. But the seniors on the team pointed to CVS. Not the individual, not the "test" process, not the deploy check

Many years later there was a scene in Silicon Valley where their VC set a tequila bottle on the delete key and caused havoc. That's when I figured out what happened in 1998.

I was one of those once. Tried to get CVS in a project. Then some other dev committed 9MB of tabs 0x09 at the end of a file. Then the site was "slow" (cause the homepage was 10MB). And the blame went to...CVS somehow. I left.

It's not. These VC firms currently just blasting money+AI at lots of things. Exploring to find what sticks. Expensive discovery.
