I find it very hard to design. And then design consistently. So, I love some CSS that has that pre-defined. Otherwise my looks like heck.

Wasn't the kernel so much as compiling all the other stuff with GCC picking the right arch/optimisation. Cause those were for sure faster than running the stock i386 or i686 or x64 apps. But it's been so long (2005) I don

Gentoo has binary kernel (if you want it) - and of course other options for source, vanilla, etc.

This is still hearsay. However, even with my limited experience in similar scenarios on smaller scale - it still feels accurate.

I'd do it for those reasons too. How much fun to watch the implosion from inside!

10 years ago was 2013. Google bought YouTube in 2006. Not really a scrappy company at that point.

There is no near-term direct consequences for their choices. The feedback loop is too long. Not sure how to solve for that.

They arent asking to be handed everything - they've simply explained how the process has changed now. Complaining about change; and describing the steps that are being taken is far from saying they "must be provided with everythin

Well, X is definitely showing its age and some week-spots. I think we need something. And given how huge X is - in both features and users - it's gonna be really hard. And, it seems only Wayland is making any progress - even if slow. T

Can be. Smaller hail (~3mm) will leave marks on your skin (depending on density/velocity). A baseball (72mm) of ice (~195g) at 11m/s to the head could kill. Very unlikely. Do not play in hail or thunderstorms.

This was the coolest one on Pi I saw http://airpi.es/ Had a cool hw kit but sadly not anymore. All the specs are published so clones are trivial.

I use syslinux, which is manually updated, no init is passed in. In the Gentoo kernel make menuconfig there are options for Systemd vs OpenRC - not entirely sure what they do.

IIRC the Kernel needs to know which one you use too.

I lurk the Gentoo IRC & mail (15+ years). I've never seen any systemd flames (not that they never happened). Gentoo IRC has always been helpful - even when I want to do stupid things.

When I'm learning a new toolset I have a habit of writing a cheat-sheet. The frequent command incantations, where params go, common "gotcha"/footgun.

Another corporate overlord rent-seeking. Use VC money to make product, use VC money to allow to sell product cheap. Gain clients. Product is "sticky". Seek rents.

Or just return a 410 and force folk to deal with the situation when their dependency breaks. I'm not convinced the convenience outweighs the risk. Especially given how many folk are just out here git-cloning random stuff from unvetted
