I think you are completely reversed in how you're analysing the situation there, so I'd like you to expand on it - two questions: 1: How does WhatsApp give you ownership over your data that Signal doesnt? 2: How is Signal locking

Is there a problem with that? It's difficult to tell from your post whether you think that's a good idea, other than the quotes which intimate you think the ethics are off?

That's a great utopian ideal (and one that I subscribe to), but there is no way that is happening outside really nerdy circles such as we probably inhabit. It is of course possible to create signal clients that are forks of Signal. I d

I would strongly disagree (respectfully). I'm in the UK. I've been using Signal for years, precisely because of WhatsApp and Meta and what they really stand for. Kids (adult) and family are all on it because of me. Initially, I

FTR no-one I know (other than in old school industry about 20 years ago) used the UK 'Ton' any more. One place of work made this clear by having different pronuncication ('Tonn-ey') as they were an old-school foundry.

For some reason the landing of that reminded me of the Eagle from Space:1999 - there was something different in the ballistics of it compared to SpaceX and Blue Origin. Fantastic to see, thanks for the video link.
