I was just thinking about this. Their operations are so opaque that if they were refusing service to people with green eyes we wouldn't even know.

In their email they say their operating costs increased too. Whether it actually did or not, that is their reasoning to increase prices on already sold products.

Probably not for existing customers (their existing servers). I don't recall anything other than the IPv4 related increase in the past. I might be wrong of course as I've demonstrated already.

For a personal thing I had AI write some python libraries to power a cli. It has to do with simple excel file filtering, grouping and aggregating. Nothing too fancy. However since it's backed by a library, I am playing with different U

You might be right. Sorry. I should have said they haven't increased prices for existing dedicated servers since my direct experince is only there. Actually until about 3-4 years ago when the whole world went to shit, using a server fo

My ISP sends me an SMS telling me there's work being done in my area. I have 3 different accounts with them in different citites. No idea which one they are talking about at any given time.

They've only ever increased the ipv4 prices for already existing customers before if I am not mistaken. This is quite big. EDIT: It's not a huge increase for dedicated servers. I already can't find anything comparable for mor

They used to be hung up on the fact that the transaction cost of a microtransaction (5 cents to read the new york times for a day) was the show stopper. Boy did they solve that issue. :)

Recently I realized something. Back in the day in the early 2000s people were talking about this thing called social media that didn't really exist but would be the future. (That and micro transactions) I never got what was so hot abou

There is an issue on their github about flickering they don't seem to care much about. I think most AI CLIs are using the same reactish cli thing called ink and all are having the same problems. opencode moved to a different library (o

Are you able to buy crude by the gallon and refine it yourself? That would bring the cost down a bit.

According to some youtube (doomer) videos I watched a lot of EVs and luxury cars also had this kind of depreciation lately.

It doesn't matter to me personally if it's open source. (There does seem to be some binary blobs involved in their software according to the cryptpad dicussion link I posted above. That I do not like). I only mentioned it because

Playing devil's advocate for a second. It might be easier for a single person company to open up a bunch of legal entities in different places where taxes etc are more favorable. In the Russian case guy might just be wanting to be able

This is very true. I wouldn't want it to be like IOS or Android where the user itself is sandboxed and has to jump through hoops to do anything but it would be nice to be able to sandbox apps if the user wants.

It is not. Desktop and mobile apps local (first? only?). I was thinking it's electron too (can still be) but the desktop repo shows a ton of C++ for some reason.

Downvotes are probably for not liking openoffice. They might have one official employee but there are a bunch of people active on their github. They might be contractors or employees of a different related company.

Right. Have you actually had anyone change their mind about it though? I am going to guess no. You probably heard a million different versions of how "that is different".

I don't like any of the libreoffice/openoffice behemoths. I only ever used them because there wasn't anything better/comperable, so I will stay away from that discussion. I like OnlyOffice. Their desktop apps are much li

Authentik would fit very nicely there and eliminate that one large bit that the author says he can't avoid putting on US infra. I am only saying this because he's already self hosting a bunch of things.

It's not very important but what are you referring to with "it is not" ? AOSP is Android (it's in the name) so I don't get it. Are you talking about blobs re Pixel devices?
