Hi! I'm implementing channels/coroutines in clojure[0] and js[1]. These are alpha quality right now, but I already have channels with backpressure and async go blocks. I wrote the js implementation to show that these could be port

In Clojure = is the deep equality op. (= 1 1) is true.

I have had the opposite experience. Clojure has been dead simple for me to set up on mac/linux.

You could just write a svm-based interpreter directly too. I wonder what difference these 2 approaches would make. I'm guesing writing an interpreter directly would be better.

I think the end goal is to implement the jvm as a bytecode interpreter on top of truffle/graal and export it as a standalone executable via svm. This also means that it will be easier to make vms with performance comparable to java. On

I would argue my version scales more gracefully. How would you write this, for example? LET(('a', 2, 'b', lambda o: o.a + 1), 'c', lambda o: [i * i for i in range(o.b)]), lambda

Seeing all these comments about code generation at compile time makes me wonder if there's an overlap between people who use/write these kind of tools for complex languages and those who post 'what's so great about (lisp

Clojure devs get rid of reflection by adding type hints where required. The compiler has a flag to help with this, called warn-on-reflection .

Clojure provides a var called warn-on-reflection that can be set to true during dev, and all (or a vast majority of) reflective calls can be optimized away by adding type hints wherever it warns. This is to say that Clojure devs get rid o

Well, rust+emacs is pretty easy to setup and provides syntax-highlighting, indentation, documentation, jump-to-definition, etc. out of the box.

The author also mentions why they see this property of React as a problem. This is just like earlier versions of Java which didnt have enums or lambdas, but used classes for everything. See what's happened now.

swap! in Clojure is analogous to callf . (swap! x + 5) atomically increments x by 5. (swap! x concat [3 4]) atomically concats the seq x and the vector [3 4] .
