The append-only mode can be implemented using https://github.com/restic/rest-server or services like rsync.net that offer read-only zfs snapshots. Doesn’t solve the asymmetric crypto of course.

Correct. Thanks for clarifying.

Yes. There's deduplication. It's using a rolling hash for chunking and then deduplicates those chunks. So every snapshot it always a full backup.

Can't look right now, but you might not have benchmarked against libc, but against an optimized version included in Raspbian ( https://github.com/simonjhall/copies-and-fills ). I'm not sure if that's still

But then you have absolutely no authentication whatsoever. So anyone can join your server using any player name and it's difficult to effectively ban. Good maybe for small private servers, but won't work for anything public. Also

It sounds like you Pi doesn't have a public IP address. So you need some way to tunnel requests to it. On solution would to be SSH into one of your own public boxes somewhere and use reverse port forwarding (-R). Although that's p

Better than having then unencrypted (unless you set a passphrase) on the filesystem for every rogue process to grab. The issue with password managers is the key is then most likely still accessible from other processes while the password ma

Not sure if this is helpful, but I remember reading about the tribes network protocol years ago. IIRC it also UDP based and essentially had a mechanism to request a proof of work depending on server load before accepting any complex packets

Since they mention a DNS rebinding attack, I would assume the victim visits or is redirected to attacker.com. This then has all the JS to talk to the unsecured router API endpoints. Now after a few seconds the attacker.com's IP address

There is bare metal code that almost immediately starts after powering the Pi on. A Pi3 and below with an absolute minimal Linux based OS could probably boot in 3-4 seconds or so. With the Pi4 that has changed and the EEPROM can take a few

The Compute Module 4 has an Ethernet chip on-board and is quite a bit smaller than a normal Pi4. It would be perfect to build exactly that.

I really like the idea of delta chat, except that I cannot bring myself to allow it access to my full imap mailbox. And most providers do not offer a way to scope access to only selected folders.

An alternative to unshare is also bubblewrap ( https://github.com/containers/bubblewrap ) which also sets up a new namespace. You can build up your own new filesystem by binding existing paths into the new root and then

Is it? From what I understand zsync also uses rolling hashes and retrieves as little data as possible. I just explicitly tested that by having a 1MB /dev/urandom file and appending and prefixing the string 'test' to it a
