To me it says their lawyers don’t trust Boeing enough. My cynical side says companies never give a shit what their customers think in an industry like aviation where they have so few or no other real options.

One of my managers once said “No one ever got fired for following McKinsey advice” and I’m not sure that it has the positive implications he meant it with at the time.

I think software devs on here are conflating AI with a hidden recession and other economic factors causing a slump in tech. I still can’t find a single thing that AI could reasonably replace about my job even if I was a junior developer. As

Because you can’t change housing policy from the past several decades in one term, no matter which government or party you’re referring to.

No you’re absolutely right this is a huge problem. Why are C suites immune to performance reviews? It’s infuriating.

Between Section 174 and the post-ZIRP environment, I think the shift is here to stay. I'm a senior software engineer, 8+ years of experience, applying to jobs I'm perfectly qualified for only to hear the exact same things you'

There is probably more demand than ever before for these types of ecological support operations. Beavers are insanely valuable to local river ecosystems. When they dam up rivers, they incur a whole host of positive effects for that river, i

I feel this way about my code being included in the GitHub arctic vault, but not about it being in CodePilot, for lack of a better analogy.

This just in: C-suites fear being treated even once like they treat employees on a daily basis.

I canceled Duolingo subscription in favor of just using ChatGPT. Duolingo wanted $30 (a $20 increase) for Max, which is as far as I can tell less flexible and capable than ChatGPT anyway.

This and the ACOUP series about ironmaking[1] were some of the most illuminating pieces I've ever read about human history. Highly recommend this blog, it makes regular evening reading for me. [1] - https://acoup.blog/2

It’s hard to disagree with your first scenario as I keep seeing Trumps court cases, plural, line up closer and closer to the election.

I recommend the Leuchtturm 1917 Notebook for this kind of stuff. It comes with spine labels and a table of contents pages in the notebook already, and the paper is extremely high quality. They're the perfect daily-use notebook, IMO.

In the analogy, I don’t think you could “literally go to any other” rocket science job or whatever. Even within my field, which is pretty broad in tech, it’s not that easy to switch jobs and I’ve had non-competes meaningfully interfere with

I would highly recommend reading the Shape Up Methodology from Basecamp if this interested you: https://basecamp.com/shapeup It’s short, but high quality and digestible.

The entire shape up philosophy from Basecamp is honestly the best project management style I’ve been a part of in software engineering. The inversion of thinking around time (how long do I want to take vs. How long will this take?) is the m

What an awful worldview to think that someone could be too young to ask questions about their place in this universe. Or that they’re somehow incapable of appreciating them. I, for one, hope you never have any say in someone’s education.
