Having seen world-class researchers up close, and having experienced their teaching first-hand over many years, I don't believe that being one is any guarantee of also being the other.

I implemented the BlockStudio visual programming language (authoring environment + runtime) in haxe [0]. I'm also migrating the website (currently Python) over to it -- I can share data type declarations between server and client-side

Thanks for sharing your "phased transition" strategy. Things aren't all-or-nothing, and taking this sort of approach can definitely help with making such a non-trivial change.

You could check out BlockStudio [0], a programming environment without text (I created it). It might make teaching/explaining computational concepts more tractable with such a young child. [0] https://www.blockstud.io

Please check out https://www.blockstudio.app (Disclaimer: I built it) It currently lacks sound, but a lot of young people seem to be having fun using it to create games, animations, stories, puzzles, etc.

That's very neat, especially because it takes the demo idea and turns it into a tangible artifact!

The ideas behind this project are similar to the goals of BlockStudio [0], a project of mine. The core idea is to build computational logic by choreographing movements of blocks/images on a digital canvas. [0] https://www.bl

Your comment echoes one aspect of the article discussed here recently (authored by Jaron Lanier and Glen Weyl), arguing that "AI is an Ideology, Not a Technology": people should be compensated for generating data used to train mod

I'll second this. I'm currently migrating away from Firebase to MySQL, and I'm glad I didn't wait any longer.

Strongly agree about the difficulty of maintaining a Django project due to its lack of type system -- though tbf, it's imposed by Python, the underlying language. And, one can annotate Python3 to make it typed, so things might improve.

It's important to realize that "reading a book" is no guarantee of learning any more than (say) "watching a Khan Academy video". Knowledge isn't "downloaded" into one's head by passively consumin

I wonder if this ongoing genocide is mostly unknown by the general public, or if it's known and not regularly on the front pages of mainstream media (and therefore perceived as unimportant).

I hear what you are saying. Check out BlockStudio: www.blockstudio.app It uses extended graphical rewrite rules, so you define the “logic” for your program by manipulating the objects that define your program. I could write more words here,
