API endpoints for recipes across sites over the internet or your banking app aren't open. Maybe the AI could crawl it, but does that work at scale? Can it do it without error or being blocked? And for lots of apps, it's about us

Money only goes to the company to get reinvested when the company sells shares, so at IPO time, when an insider sells, when more shares are issued, etc... Otherwise, it's one asset holder selling to another asset holder, usually at eve

Writing Gnome Shell extensions is easy, they're just JS scripts... If you really need to move your clock with a bunch of clicks, there's also KDE which is less opinionated...

That's fair but one can dream of being able to simply run a useful LLM on CPU on your own server to simplify your app and save costs...

I think he truly believed that scaling LLMs would lead to AGI, so he over-promised assuming the technology would catch up to the claims. The wall is very obvious now though.

I agree. With $10 million I'd immediately buy a decent chunk of land in the middle of nowhere, build a modest home + a guest home or two, have a hobby farm, and retire with a solid $8 million or so left. Invest, live off interest, do

Seems like the process filters out candidates who need a job, optimizes for those who already have a job but want to work with OSS.

I'm making an app where literally all I want to do with an LLM is generate tags. This model has failed with flying colours, literally takes forever to parse anything and doesn't follow instructions. Edit - I should add, currently

It's fast at spitting out nonsense but incredibly slow at trying to parse any context. Also absolutely atrocious at following instructions. Probably would be good as a game NPC or a chatbot, not very good for integrating into an appli

I envy Americans. Your average house price is 5x the average income and you all are becoming aware of it and complaining about it. In Canada, that ratio is 12x and we're taking it while convincing ourselves it's normal...

?? OCaml has had a completion engine for as long as I can remember (definitely over a decade) and it powers their LSP these days. I do know however that the community focuses mostly on Vim and Emacs.

Probably a Framework thing, maybe Hyprland doesn't have great power management, dunno. He also got the beefiest APU Framework offers in a laptop so maybe that's it. I have an MSI laptop with an 11th gen Intel chipset and 16inch s

Let's not forget that during the trial it was established that Bing's top search is "google"... MS literally forces Edge and Bing on users yet they'll seek out Google and Chrome.

All I want from LLMs is to follow instructions. They're not good enough at thinking to be allowed to reason on their own, I don't need emotional support or empathy, I just use them because they're pretty good at parsing text

The users and data is what everyone wants. Which is scary because Google at least doesn't sell data (they just match contextual ads to users), whereas any company that purchases Chrome no doubt will.

The M4 has half the memory bandwidth of the 395+ and the specs on those models are absolute trash. To get an M4 Pro APU and decent specs you're spending at least as much as the Framework, at least here in Canada.
