This makes me wonder, would "mine the entire moon away" require new physics or simply require a monumental effort?

Compared to other projects moving to their own weird licenses, GPL2+ isn't the worst outcome. It's interesting to see how the sentiment around open source is changing in the last few years

> Basically, this question is to software engineers as FizzBuzz is to programmers I don't get this comment at the end or the follow-up article? What's the difference, sure, FizzBuzz is a simpler problem, but I would imagine it

This seems to be the main message. And it's followed with such a sweet lacing of irony in the associated footnote > The empirical evidence is clear on this. If you look at where the largest numbers of successful startups come from,

Makes sense, all that bundled JS isn't getting any smaller. You don't want to try and open a news site on a poor backyard 3G connection

My take: 1. Source control 2. Reproducible builds 3. Learn the functionality 4. ... If you don't understand what the code does, you're probably going to regret any changes you make before step 3!

If you use CloudFront it's easy now. Some years back you either had to do a complicated setup or pay something like 2k for a certificate!

That is my goto setup for static or semi-static sites. In theory you could still see a runaway bill with CloudFront, although I haven't checked the numbers to actually see what magnitude of traffic would be needed for it to really hurt

True, didn't think about it from the limited cost perspective. Would be a lot of traffic to get you past $20, but a possibility like you say.

If you're just serving static files, wouldn't a S3 website be easier and more robust?

I've done something similar. It started with creating a frontend for more easily viewing my albums on flickr ( https://ash.code27.co.za ). Then when flickr was acquired by smugmug I migrated all my photos to DropBox, only to

I'd add "maintenance burden". I have a few old properties I'm responsible for that used to be web apps, one is archived as static HTML, the other one still exists as an outdated web app. Every other week I receive a requ

This happens a lot to me in KSP, the lander tends to slide all the way to the bottom of the slope. Most of the time it's okay, just need to tweak the dampeners on the landing legs a bit ;) EDIT: I went to re-watch the moment on youtube

It depends on the technology in question, but most development has some agenda that drives it or that is enabled by it. Simply engaging in the development of tech is already pushing an agenda - the notion that we should pursue technological

I was thinking connect four with only one column. But if you do only 1 row, it is indeed winnable. In fact, in 2D connect four, that is one of my favorite strategies with a new player - try to get two pugs next to each other on the bottom r
