Most people don't seem to understand how simple Docker actually is when used on the correct platform. On Linux, it's not using a VM, it's running almost on bare metal. The overhead is ~1%. For that ~1%, you get a build/d

But when we elevate from PoW to PoS the whole point is that compute power won't matter anymore. So a more appropriate analogy would be that if 51% of horse carriage drivers wanted that cars shouldn't be able to drive on roads, the

True. That is however countered by a vastly simpler language. Language support for deferred cleanups[0] helps a bit. Also the GeneralPurposeAllocator[1] contains memory safety debugging features that make analyzing such bugs bit nicer. IMHO

It's pretty dreamy for us who wanted Rust to become "better C" but instead it became "better C++". Granted, that's what it was trying to become from the get-go, I just got confused and hopeful.

Except for Ultima 9 and UO, I finished every other Ultima, starting from III. In fact, Ultima 3 was either the first game, or at least one of the first games I ever played. The game world in every game was amazing in their time, the most in

Whatever it is, it needs to be simple (in the way C is simple) and modern. Currently Zig fits that combo technically. Other features that are nice to have: - REPL or some mechanism that's close enough (zig has --watch which is not clos

I've submitted pull requests to projects when that happens. Not many yet, but all of them have been accepted in less than a week's time. People should do this and then the problem would eventually vanish.

Push vs pull perhaps. F-droid packagers need to a) notice there's a newer version and b) implement the change of packaging a newer version. Plus whatever additional process they might have to keep things from breaking. Element's d

From Nim's tutorial: "Macros are very powerful. A piece of good advice is to use them as little as possible, but as much as necessary."

Common Lisp was a choice that many teams chose to ignore for whatever reasons. The price of perpetual upgrades is apparently cheaper than starting with a complete and stable language.

That's a great analogy because it highlights an important point: we're living in the real world, not in a movie. In the real world, it's sometimes fairly obvious when someone should be forcibly shut up. In the olden days, it

Nobody has been banned for dissenting opinions. They have been banned for being dangerous, lying lunatics who keep succeeding in spreading their disease.

If you start putting people who murder people with knives in prisons, soon we're not gonna be able to use knives in our kitchens.

>The main issue is that people who say Trump is lying is mostly Trump's opposition. It is indeed an issue that not more people are calling Trump what he is: a liar. How do we make telling the truth socially profitable again?

Yeah, that sounds like an excellent idea. I would also add punishments (social media bans to start with, perhaps fines and even prison time for extremely serious cases) for spreading obvious lies.

"Man up" is great advice, but it's from an era where socialized interaction happened mostly in person. In those times, the consequence of insults was almost always physical violence, sometimes to the death in a formally arran

That probably means that either they're focusing on the wrong thing (muslims and lefties? I don't know) or that they actually did predict the events and did nothing for whatever reason.

Not an entire political party. "All terrorists all Republicans" (which is most probably a true statement for the terrorists who attacked the Capitol) and "All Republicans are terrorists" are not equivalent statements. Re
