For Elixir, take a look at Phoenix LiveView course from https://pragmaticstudio.com - they don't start from the beginning, and assume you are already familiar with Phoenix from the guides.

> These things are storytellers, not teachers. I really liked how a recent paper from DeepMind put it - LLMs are just role-playing: https://arxiv.org/abs/2305.16367 . This explains so much.

I suspect it's because they're happy with SV salaries they got. They think it's actually a good deal for them, and a signal they're "valued"

Ilya is just naive, imho. Bright but just too idealistic and hypothesizing about AGI, and not seeing that this is now ONLY about making money from LLMs, and nothing more. All the AGI stuff is just a facade for that.

Well, that only shows that those 95% of folks are truly either religious fanatics or are just in it all for money [1]. No fucks given about moral principles. (although there's or course a third possibility of them just being bright but

I think the opposite applies too - "move fast and break things" is a helluva excuse for doing extremely shady things and not worry about the consequences. Culture and incentives are just extremely hard to get right and align with

I find all of them, gpt4 or not, just suck, plain and simple. They are only good for only the most trivial stuff, but any time the complexity rises even a little bit they all start hallucinate wildly and it becomes very clear they're n

Anything someone does to stick it to Musk and his ilk of tech CEOs is such a powerful move, in my book!

I gotta admit, I'm really impressed by Marc's ability to completely subvert so many historical facts and figures to "support" his self-contradictory line of thought. This is just on a whole other level - even Trump would

Not sure why the downvote - I tend to agree, granted they don't seem to have an official status page. I hope the reason is not political, but who knows. EDIT: I stand corrected - status.twitter.com redirects to status.twitterstat.us (w

Unless this is satire at its finest, I think it'd be safe to assume the people who wrote that have never worked as a proper Engineering Manager, or if they did they were a horrible one.

On top of that, they face massive lawsuits for violating existing IP etc. It's far from a proven business model indeed (heck, OpenAI isn't even profitable yet), and even further as a technology (because it is so inherently unrelia

For indies, the making is the marketing. They don't need separate marketing because they build 100 MVPs openly in public, with an extremely fast feedback cycle (days), and see what to focus on next. So the secret is not knowing what to

I'm not even sure solo is at a disadvantage here - on the contrary, regular companies are bogged down by a massive tech pit, because of which they can't move fast, and only keep adding to that according to Conway's law. Imho
