Or you get "old" and experienced enough to realize it's all the same things every day, everywhere :-) And I can almost guarantee startups are much more learning-conducive than FAANG in that regard.

I find this is both a blessing and a curse of a society (no matter in which animal kingdom). Provides safety when it's needed, and the opposite of safety when followed blindly.

The problem is in this case, no amount of blocking will work, because the site was completely broken without those, at least for me :-) Though I can reduce the amount of divulged info for sure, but the very fact they're using them mean

All jokes aside, this would obviously divulge order details and/or control to whomever owns that number :-) Easier to just block the damn number.

Oh don't get me started on that! I already gave, and regretted it ever since. There's no way to stop those messages now. I even called them and they stopped for a while, and are now back in full force, right after my recent order.

I think in CVS's case likely yes, they probably hired underpaid folks to implement their site, and now those folks are probably long gone so no one would even know how to remove all those advertising domains without which the site does

Well, this reminded me of the situation right here in the US. The other day I couldn't place an online order at CVS because it was repeatedly "having technical difficulties". Turns out I had to unblock half a dozen (!) advert

That's just my opinion, of course - I'm not generalizing here. But the fact that folks use them doesn't mean they are "useful", just that they're addictive.

I've made a mistake of using my patronymic as my middle name in US docs. It's actually more like a second last name, as you noted.

Tbh I think we have an opposite problem right now - too few folks getting vaccinated and even somewhat ashamedly asking others to. I wish we were in a situation where unvaccinated folks were considered "black sheep", but unfortuna

Another point of confusion among many folks is monorepos. Some consider "monorepos = monoliths", which is more like comparing apples to oranges imo. Monorepos provide some of the benefits of monoliths in terms of 1) making it easi

Came here to say this. I think most of us suffer from this symptom of wanting to make the system more easily modifiable later etc. by "decoupling" various components, but as a result turn it into an unnecessarily complex blob that

Going from "manual testing" to automated testing is the biggest jump. Unfortunately, lots of folks (both developers and managers) fall into the trap of thinking they will "use up" their development time on automated test
