I'm sorry, I must be explaining this incredibly bad. It's not $1500 or $10,000, it's whatever the artist chooses. This isn't only for Jay Z or the Kings of Leon, there are thousands upon thousands of artists out there that don't have record

It's not $1500 per album, it's however much the artist chooses. In this case, a bunch of artists from reddit.com got together and decided to make a mix tape and split the $1500. They are all relatively unknown artists who would like some ex

The basics of Musicslu: How does a community purchase work? 1. The artists of We Are Artists lists a total amount they would like to sell their release for, in this case $1,500. 2. You name your own price, using the "Make a pledge" button a

How many of us spent the first day of our programming jobs actually programming? I don't see how they would expect to see somebody in their element with a brand new code base, new development environment etc. And if the remedy to that is to

I noticed that Disqus uses a JS widget to embed comments. I like that approach a lot. I wasn't sure of all of the benefits, but full CSS styling is pretty nice. As a way to get bloggers to adopt it, I think I'm going to make custom CSS skin

You have no idea how many times I've turned my blackberry alarm off and thought I had hit snooze. the iPhone alarm is a thousand time nicer with 2 different mechanisms, touch snooze and slide off.

My boss used touch my screen with a pencil. He'd actually draw light lines on the screen with the graphite. I had to buy a box of wet wipes to clear the screen whenever he left my desk. Drove me nuts.

I had never even visited techcrunch, venturebeat, mashable or engadget before stumbling upon HN. There are a ton of links to these sites. But the thoughtful and insightful discussion by like-minded developers is a breath of fresh air.
