Strange I don't see the issues you're talking about I use Ubuntu Desktop on a variety of desktops and laptops. I'd say PA was stable by Ubuntu 12.04. I do Skype and Google Talkplugin (now Hangouts).

I used to complain about Maven but in the past couple of years it has made some significant usability improvements especially with regards to Eclipse projects.

I didn't think I'd ever see this happen. Java is my bread and butter but this could be a game changer. Edit: It probably won't be for me but just saying who knows, some developers might prefer C# over Java on Linux and Mac. T

I completely agree, Cygwin has real OpenSSH, well you can even run Gnome on Windows if you want; even as your main shell or I was doing that back in 2002 not sure it would work these days. Overall Cygwin can't be beat. If Gow has enoug

When you run ps on Cygwin on Windows you are seeing the actual Windows processes, everything you do in the shell is on the Windows machine. Without Cygwin; Windows IMHO is nowhere near as friendly, at the CLI. I can completely get along fin

I get your points and see it like this, Red Hat is like Ford. Solid, reliable, sometimes quite innovative. Yet the desktop Linux market slipped right by them for like ... years. One has to wonder what could cause such slippage. Ubuntu is mo

It's an excellent article, at least three different times I caught myself shaking my head in agreement. I really liked, "Congratulations, you’ve just invented Waterfall.".

For those commentators deriding Linux attempting to make FreeBSD sound better; you're doing your chosen OS a disservice. Instead, you should highlight why you like your OS and not try to denigrate Linux.

I have zero issues with Linux drivers? If anything I've had a better experience with Linux drivers than Windows. I could go through a laundry list of devices I buy, plug in and they just work on Linux (Ubuntu). My experience wasn'

I'm on Ubuntu 14.04 and had to stop to check if systemd is installed, it is. Ubuntu operates the same for me today as 12 did. I don't have any issues with it. I wrote a Java system service the other day and installed it with the u

My smartphone has 2 Gigs of RAM and most of it is wasted. Games on phones aren't even interesting because my fingers slide right off the screen when the action gets fast. Give me a PC with 2 Gigs of RAM and I can do amazing things with
