Is the system still disabled if someone is present in the front passenger seat (modern vehicles have sensors for this)? Oftentimes the passenger acts as the navigator and it wouldn't make sense for them to be locked out of the system.

I've seen a lot of students serious about video editing switching from (typically pirated) Premiere Pro to Resolve as the free version got better and better. One student told me his high school filmmaking class was switching from FCP t

Yeah, I wish there were good Linux options for handheld touch devices. Though I'll have to say that Android rooting as well as Hackintosh experiments (among other things) definitely paved the way for me running Linux fulltime and going

I'd call it a win if you get them into rooting and custom distros like Lineage (which might give them a better overall appreciation of how tech works, encourage them to tinker, etc.)

Modern RDP can use hardware h.264 encoding if your GPU supports it, and grabs the output from the framebuffer and streams it like a game streaming app does. I think the default RDP mode still sends the draw commands the old-fashioned way th

As a FYI pigz also can speed up decompression as well, but the performance boost is minimal. The decompression is still in a single thread but it spawns other threads for i/o and so forth. For compression the speedup is quite linear.

I also write (and draw) for fun, and it's quite an enjoyable hobby especially since I'm not pressured into doing it for the money/to get published. Writing is a rather unique hobby in that it has a very gradual learning curve

For the first condition, that depends if you're able to get residental fiber service there. Most cities have fiber service in the downtown core but that's not always true in the suburbs. For the second condition I think that those

It works well for people who 1. Have fiber. 2. Live in a major city that has a direct line to their datacenter. You can literally get 1-2ms latency from your home to AWS/GCP/Azure with such a setup, as it's all fiber from you

Maybe not straight up arrested, but I think I recall a case in the past where legal action was taken over someone using a restaurant's free WiFi everyday while not being a customer (he used it in his car in the parking lot). Like the n
