I give the authors a little bit of a break because they're sort of more thinking about the meta problem of how to build an automated system to create a controller. From that standpoint, the original paper is more introducing the early

Nice paper. It makes me wonder how different the two 'neurons' are from a classical control theory set of equations (w/ gains in a feedback loop) solving for the same plant model. I do love the visualization of "Instabi

That's what hardware "design for manufacture" product stages are all about. But no one puts money into that unless there's some knowable value in putting forth that effort. So if a startup proves the value, then a vehicl

I've always wondered if it was in part because porting an ADA compiler ideally also involves porting some support for constructs like TASK - which ends up more like getting maintenance in place for both a language compiler as well as O

If you search for the SEL4 kernel, or the L4 family in general, there's a fair number of papers and presentations on their activity in this area. I don't know if I would characterize it as a particularly fast development process t

They should go searching around for earthworms in some of the perchlorate contaminated soils in the US. Natural selection could have given those worms better survivability in the same test. Ironically, perchlorate contamination is often cau

I've idly wondered about setting up an ISP company that would focus on buildup of community networks. A city could issue bonds to pay for the network as well as a build and maintain contract with the company. Part of the deal should be

It's always been odd to me that the Roomba product seems to have plateaued in core capability for so long - it only vacuums so well, is still mostly for hard floors/short carpet, and is stuck in one room more or less.

Does this move the bugs from the implementation language to the language of the verification spec? Or is there a way to express some generic requirements such as "don't strand assets"?
