Interesting. I can't find any sort of artificial horizon, but i suspect the two "spirit levels" at the bottom (T shape) serve much the same purpose. Given that it was an ocean crossing he would probably be watching the airspe

Best i recall, from back when the PGP thing was going down, was that anything above 90-bit keys (or some such) was basically considered the equivalent of a military weapon. So if you wanted to offer it to anyone outside of USA, you were tre

Err, no. Docker is not coupled to Systemd. If anything Systemd is competing with Docker via their nspawn sub-system. I could have sworn there has been even a few instances of Systemd cock blocking Docker even though Docker had a clear prece

I get similar annoyance with how gmail and email is now "synonymous", much thanks to the heavy handed nature of the gmail "spam" filer (anything not from a big name provider gets automatically binned, apparently).

Funny thing the scenario you put forward in the last part is exactly how Marx envisioned the transition from capitalism to socialism (iirc, communism was seen as a possible stepping stone). Thus he expected it to happen in heavily industria

I vaguely recall having read some article or other about a pre-computer plan someone had for a "database of everything". I suspect the idea hinged on edge notched cards or something similar.

Software should not be patented at all. Math has not been patentable under any scheme until recently, where over a series of lawsuits the US courts have effectively made a subset of it (software) patentable. And it all started thanks to see
