Superficial explanation, talks about google services which google cloud customers don't care. What about their customers websites and services that went off for 4h? What about the impact on southamerica, eu, and other markets outside u

It seems global to me. This is really strange compared to AWS. I don't remember an outage there (other than s3) impacting instances or networking globally.

From what I understand, that is the idea. KRs are the KPIs you are going to focus on each quarter.

I remember Norvig course on udacity. Every problem I solved, after that there was a video with his solution. It was so much simpler.

Better yet. In AWS I can whitelist a security group and all ec2 instances with that security group would get access to RDS. This would be handy with tags in gcp.

I am reading "skin in the game" from Nassim Taleb. He makes a lot of points against journalits or economists. And it seems right many times. They do not have real contact with the things they talk about.

What happens when you sell? The person only gets 70-x years of leasing? Or it renews?

It seems to fit my impression too. But it feels like for STEM this would apply to women. Most of my girl colleagues from college are married to classmates or other engineers. For men, they usually are married with women from other areas.

Man... I read your blog. It's all true. I find so hard to explain this to Jr devs. They read a lot of best practices, and take it as a religion. Lots of uneeded code is created. Anyway, I would like more skeptical devs.

As an intern in a Google training program in Brazil, they gave us the project to make a crawler, without any c++ libs other than curl. It was difficult, but we really learned a lot.

The message I understand is: less code, less bugs, less problems, better to maintain. But it is already my way of thinking. Essentially, keep it simple. And only write code that you need.

Probably a cultural thing. I don't see a problem with this. Depending on the meeting, there is no way it will end in 15 or 45 minutes. If it finishes earlier, great! everybody goes back to work. Sometimes it goes longer, and people ha

I like this kind of development also. But I don't think it is for everyone (the person has to keep thinking on the problem for long time). A good talk about It, from the creator of clojure: https://youtu.be/f84n5oFoZBc

Related to this... Maybe as we become more and more advanced in tech, we will spend less and less. Let's see some examples : uber, usually cheaper than normal taxis, great economy of scale. So transportantion in general should decrease

I like the idea of ubi because of its simplicity and it makes more dificult to "game the system" . In Brazil I see that a lot. With food stamps there would have places with food and cigars, that would sell cigars for food stamp
