I disagree, it's definitely useful. It's useless only if it feels/is dishonest. One way to avoid sounding dishonest is letting the dev team write the small apology piece.

At t0, you say zero. At t1, you say one. ... At t7, you say seven. Positive seven is what you say while your clock says t7. Negative seven is what you plan and "will" say at t7 while your clock still says t0.

My diabetic dad responded to the vaccine in a similar manner. We spent one scary day in the hospital. After changing his pills to insulin shots (temporarily for a month), he started getting well again.
