It integrates anything that can be represented as a number. Prices, number of badges, importance of titles, it doesn't matter. You can combine any of those inputs into a relevance formula that is evaluated at query time. Of course IndexTank

Just because Steve Jobs said it, it shouldn't scare you. Steve Jobs himself did his best work in his 40s and 50s. If it's true that it's rare that older people produce "less amazing stuff" (big if), then it's probably because they simply lo

It's not rare in the Silicon Valley. Most managers in successful companies here are what you'd consider rare. Managers without real management ability don't last long here.

You are working at the wrong company. Quit. EDIT: "I find that managers have come from no background to instruct people on a technological level and are taken on for simply their management ability." If true, that is a sign of a very unhe

That's survivor bias. The set of already successful entrepreneurs is much smaller than the set of first-time entrepreneurs. To answer your question you want the distribution of outcomes for both sets. VCs have to have good estimates of that

VCs are more likely to give money to entrepreneurs who are already rich. There's a good reason for it: VCs (unlike angels) need home runs. Over the course of 10 years, a VC must catch a Facebook, a Google or at least a Twitter in order to b

This is very useful to me. I've been at LinkedIn for a few weeks and just yesterday I had some time to play with pig and our Hadoop cluster. Ruby is my preferred language for quick hacks, so I'll follow this series.

Short answer: Silicon Valley is about doing, not about seeing. Given that it's your first time in the US, enjoy San Francisco instead.
