Did you settle on some kind of filtering system? Curious as to how people remove fluoride - just realized the other day my current *triple filter** aquasana under sink system doesn’t do it

I really underestimated the program when the hospital asked if we wanted to sign up for a free book program. But my son is now three with a little library made up mostly of these books. He also loves checking the mailbox for a new book! Thi

This may be silly, but I always seem to miss what someone should do to “prepare” if they agree with this level of risk?

Slightly off topic but how did you find a group of people to do this with? I’d love to but I can’t imagine anyone in my social circles/work acquaintances doing this with any book.

Thank you for this. I don’t see many generous readings of Wolframs writings. HN is very dismissive of almost everything of his that ever makes the front page. As someone who doesn’t know enough to really know if he’s right or wrong, it’s ha

I absolutely adore this book and its approach to information theory. I will also note the author made available the (non compilable) latex source [1] of the text for easy searching! [1] http://www.inference.org.uk/mackay/

Wow! Thank you! It’s an interesting (and expensive!) hobby. I’m not sure how realistic this is, but I always wanted to be able to search for knives “with similar shapes”. Like “knives with fat a belly” or something like that. If there exist

I recently went through this myself after a long time of avoiding it due to the way I grew up (parents always argued severely about money - made me basically ignore it as it caused me extreme stress) I have found the BogleHead guides [1,2]

Andrej’s entire series is by far one of the most useful resources I’ve found. Even as an instructor of these topics myself I learn something new about the material and about how to teach it!

In-line with this discussion, over 80% of my open tabs are HN links. I’d like to be able to easily: 1. Archive the link the HN post is pointing to 2. Archive the HN comments Does anyone know of an easy automated way to archive both the HN p

I used to set this manually on Tiddlywiki with a "touched" field. I'm thinking of incorporating this into Obsidian using the templater plugin. I found it very useful to organize research papers like this.

Maybe a silly question but: is this by accident or a dark pattern? I hate it when this happens in the wild, but I never know if I should be suspicious of a dark patter or not.

I’d love to incorporate fzf into a popup-everywhere tool like Alfred! If anyone has done something similar please let me know!
