Every time I hear news about Python language itself, it sadden me that, in 2025, PyPy is still a separate distinct track from mainline Python. That said, I wonder if GIL-less Python will one day enable GIL-less C FFI? That would be a big wi

As in self hosting? I love self hosting idea for myself out of principles. But unforunately it will never take off in a huge way because convenience is king. Average Joe and Jane want to install things with as little efforts as possible.

I am with you, and they still have so many dials to tweak. Ads is one of the big dials. Training costs can be brought down. New algorithm can still be invented. So many headrooms. And this is not just for OpenAI. I think Anthropic and Gemin

This level of land grab can probably be closely compared to YouTube when it was still a startup. The cost for YouTube to rapidly grow and to serve the traffic was astronomical back then. I wonder if 1 day OpenAI will be acquired by a large

I didn't realize Disqus is still alive. Yeah, there's no use in embedding things like this if it doesn't even bring in the traffic. You gained 0 and they gained 100.

Is this engagement bait? Sigh... fine, at least I bite the bait here: 1. The use-case is super specific to homelab where consistency doesn't matter. You didn't show us the Redis persistence setup. What is the persistence/dura

How does WASM replace/implement language specific features like goroutines or Python's asyncio loop, or the specifics of each language's GC?

Why not just make it a yaml document in a git repo instead of making users register?

Damn. Well, time to fork everything and keep internal patches internal. This system is unworkable.

For real. When Sun got bought, I thought to myself: “At least they would also destroy Java…”. But nooo, Java thrives and flourish under Oracle protection.

996 as an employee, especially for companies that don’t offer fast growing stocks, is a super bad deal. 996 for a business owner or top exec at a big company? It’s the norm. And the risk-reward makes sense to them.

It would have been a lot more popular if it has a shim that lets it pretend to be a regular thread. Folks don't like to perform a lot of rewrites.

These days it's "rewrite in Rust". Typically Python is just the entry and exit point (with a little bit of massaging), right? And then the overwhelming majority of the business logic is done in Rust/C++/Fortran, no?
