For webapp, maybe not very valuable. But for API gateway or any kind of sidecars? Very valuable.

I am glad that Git took off instead of Bazaar or SVN. But I would have been ok if Mercurial won as well.

The keyword you want to look for is: SIMD (Single Instruction Multiple Data) optimization at hardware level. This is how many aggregate functions can run real fast. To take advantage of that, data has to be structured a certain way: In a co

I think D failed because it doesn't take a stand one way or the other. Overwhelming majority of mainstream programmers want important choices to be made for them. - People want language designers to decide: Has GC or no GC. Choose one

With LLM, they will. The AI is finally intelligent enough and knowledgable enough to do something. Not only that, the AI finally gained the ability to memorize context.

I am 75% in individual tech stocks and VTI. The other 25% is in real estate. I think the 25% is a pretty good ratio to hedge against the tech stocks. Also, the high rate is making profitable RE investing very difficult. Almost all of my pee

Pascal is actually good and perfomant. It was the second language I picked up in high school after Basic. I don’t understand why as an industry we had to regress to Python, Ruby, Java, & Javascript in late 90s & early 2000.

System design questions are way more relevant to day-to-day work than leetcode questions. Nothing stops the interviewer from asking you even more relevant system designs questions like: * How would you build a Linux kernel from scratch? * H

There is a benefit to using "go mod vendor". Some corporate environments lock down their CI/CD pipelines. By vendoring everything, the CI/CD does not need to make external HTTP calls.

I agree. Local time with timezone is really a presentation-layer concern. For server-side and storage layer, it's saner for everyone to simply store in UTC or epoch seconds/nanoseconds.
