I guess I feel that since it's SO simple and obvious it isn't worth anything. It was more of an itch I wanted to scratch, so I did.

Maybe the rickroll could start out quiet but just get louder and the other callers get quieter until you pay!

I do like that they don't charge dev rates, but it does cost 3x as much in production. And twilio works great with ruby, callinwith.us is a rails app. Although if I needed international support I guess that would be an issue. Being a naive

Most of it is just what you get on a standard Rails app. The interesting stuff is right here: https://github.com/dickeytk/callinwithus/blob/master/app/con...

ooo! I love it! How could I communicate that though? I don't track emails. I COULD send an sms afterwards, but I don't have a good way to figure out who was the originator of the conference call. Maybe I could just put a side note on the pa

You are correct. Oddly it looks fine on OSX. Maybe I could just remove the tilt or something? Not sure how to fix it otherwise.

I saw that one, and it looks great. Definitely the best thing out there I could find. My two problems though: 1. It's in private beta. 2. Not sure I the dinosaur theme is something I would want outside clients to see, although I personally

Honestly, Twilio's API is so well done I don't believe my code is worth anything. However, it's available here: https://github.com/dickeytk/callinwithus for anyone to take a look at if they're curious how it works.

From a UX perspective, it'd be great, unfortunately getting advertisers hooked into their system would need much more work than it took to actually build the project in the first place. I was thinking of just putting it out for free until i

Trouble is offsetting the twilio bill. Getting money is the hardest UX problem ever, so I just decided to skip it as long as I can afford it haha

I like it, very straightforward. It is screen sharing though, which isn't quite what I was looking for.

pollback is definitely not RESTful, but that doesn't mean it's bad. Both methods can work for different scenarios. Also, you could look into long polling using redis or something.

I made an entire conference call application in like 2 hours. Not for no reason though, I was unable to find a simple conference calling service. Typing 'simple conference calling' into google comes up with crap like this: http://www.freec

This is great. I've seen slight issues though. On my phone (iPhone 4) when I was clicking around the todo lists, they responded very slowly to my taps and I was able to highlight todo lists without actually going to them. However, I love th

I thought rails was a pain to set up until I got a mac. That's not an advertisement for osx though, it's just what rails is catered for. I would love to see better support on other platforms. This includes linux, it's easier than osx, but t

so you need EC2 to use NodeFu? Not a dealbreaker, but I didn't get that from the splash page.

it's not groundbreaking, but it's something that I've slowly been getting better and better at. It seems with python at least, it's a puzzle and you gotta know about each piece to make it work.

I would definitely be inclined to go with the Joyent service since that's where Ryan Dahl (creator of node) works. And Heroku pretty much rules this realm. But competitors are good!!

yeah I freaked out when I first saw how it worked. Everyone was annoyed with me. I don't even want to make webapps that aren't ruby with heroku around.

right, CI was the wrong term there, just that you're using your automated testing to make sure your deployments won't crash. This really is the way to go for developing software, deployment should be painless. I would like to see some sort

You sound like a Python guy, but that's exactly how Heroku works. It totally sold me on the idea of just pushing to your production/staging repo to update a server. I imagine to set it up yourself would be a bit of work, but it sounds like

I prefer uservoice to getsatisfaction, it doesn't have as many features, but it's easier to use. I think that's more important for a social support tool

I love the design of your home page, the CTA and copywriting is spot on. The one thing I think you could do without is the "Get e on your phone". It's out of place and too big. If I want to download your app I'm just going to go to the app
