Took me a second to realise you are not talking about concurrency. I can also confirm Mattermost has threads, which are likeable but a bit confusing.

My master's degree was essentially thermodynamics, all the various aspects of it, and I have never met anyone self-taught in that area. You just do not sit down and just learn about the physics of energy (storage, conversion, transmiss

At work, we have an employer-provided (some groups also have their own server/setup) GitLab instance. I work on there much more than on GitHub, and am really liking it. Everything seems neatly integrated, especially the CI/CD is n

I got into LaTeX (not plain TeX) many years before I even wrote my first line of "normal" code (MATLAB). A couple more years passed before I really got into proper software engineering. LaTeX being understood as a drop-in Word rep

This weirded me out, but the Dockerfile [0] reveals how this just pulls together a bunch of linters. A nice convenience to have taken care of, but nothing groundbreaking or closed-off. I guess this still counts as an "Extend" step

The article has a couple of problems in my eyes: - "you might want to just copy-paste it and use it" ... that's maybe what people end up doing, but it's a terrible idea. - The following `__repr__` is out of alignment wit

I have used both softwares but stick with VSCode for Python, simply because it is very powerful to have one great editor for all projects, as opposed to one specialized IDE for each. PyCharm is (AFAIK) monolithic in what it brings to the ta

The issue is that if isinstance(msg, str) will clutter code that is otherwise clean. A single type has to be specially handled, which sticks out like a sore thumb. As a second point, do you have more on your last sentence? ("T
