Looks like you got two extra cores, and I assume you're overclocking it with that cooler? What frequency did you manage to get it to run at? Looking back I probably should have just bought a 1060 6GB, though then I would have been payi

I just built a PC and tried to budget as cheaply as possible while still retaining reasonable performance. It ended up costing $1200 (plus monitor, another $200). I went with a Ryzen 3 1300x and a RX580. I'd love some feedback about ho

The good news is that there is some discussion in sibling threads that seem to indicate the 8x slot will lose you maybe a single frame per second. You can check what your card is running at using GPU-Z, make sure to run something intensive

It seems you're right, at least as recently as last year [0] the difference seems very negligible. I had read that it was in 2013 but had assumed increases in GPU speeds exacerbated the effect. [0] https://www.gamersnexus.ne

To call this "the best gaming CPU you can buy" is a bit disingenuous. A $379 processor which can turbo boost up to 4.7GHz is pretty impressive. It is however still limited to 16 PCIe lanes which means you get one GPU at PCIe 3.0 x

As I understand it Tensorflow does not handle a large number of variables very well[0], which is the killer feature of NUTS in pymc3. This makes it a bit of a non-starter for pymc3. [0] https://github.com/pymc-devs/pymc

I'm not coming out in favor of, or against this, but how do you think it would impact lawmakers understanding of what's at stake re: online privacy if this were to happen?

A few comments have mentioned neural nets in this post. adamnemecek mentions in this thread that PGMs are a superset of neural networks, and and Thomas Wiecki has a few excellent blog posts on creating bayesian neural networks using pymc3.

I'm not sure this answers the question outlined in the title. Gambling is wrong because the downside isn't inevitable but insurance is okay because the downside is? If anything I imagine gambling to be introducing risk of ruin whi

Hey, thanks for this! I'm traveling today but I'll give this a shot tomorrow. I'd be much happier if I could read scientific papers on my eReader.

Unfortunately the kindle is optimizing for users buying Amazon content, not for being the best general purpose eReader. This incentive mismatch between Amazon and the end users is probably why we will never see such a feature built in.
