That's how I do it- mostly to run urxvt. Off-Topic: I'm setting up a new machine, and wondering whether I should use WSL 1 or 2 (or both?). Is there a clear path forward for these systems? WSL 1 has served me pretty well. Most

I have the hp 41 cv app on my iPhone and it's fantastic. I paid once many years ago and have never been asked to pay again. A great group of enthusiasts keep it going. That said, I've had recent occasion to do some programming f

He should add "ARR" to the glossary. I know a lot of others here, like me, scan the comments to see if the article is worth reading, so translations help us.

Guessing a bit here— correct me if I'm wrong. This jargon is utterly foreign to me: SMB = Small to mid-sized business (not server message block) JR = Junior rep? Jr? AE = Account executive ARR = Annual recurring revenue

Please see my response here: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=25211102 My username was a handle like most others (almost nobody comes in under their real name). It never occurred to me, for instance, to go to gpm.com—

My user name wasn't clearly an ad. I use that same username on, for instance, the Coral City webcam chat. I remember one person on the subreddit getting an "aha" as s/he was asking something and I wouldn't direc

Many years ago I got banned by a moderator on a sub for answering someone's question. I did have a product but didn't pitch it directly except in paid ads on the sub. My username was the website. I emailed the mod for clarificat

It'll probably bounce back. We've been here before, when computing was centralized and everybody logged into the mainframe. Then it turned out that to have independent computers gave users a huge advantage and helped control cos

I'm not sure that not being in the government makes a death threat implausible. It may even make it more so. Whitey Bulger apparently ordered a few deaths that were carried out. https://www.usatoday.com/story/new

It didn't pin down Graham on supporting a late-term Supreme Court nominee, even though he's on the record as not supporting them.

That's the point. It's the companies that are little known that get squashed. I don't know much about the space, but I tried Google and chose zoom instead because it was easier— and I pay for Google. I tried Jitsi. But wh

My gripe is the companies who failed to implement because they couldn't do security in a way that was easy to use and resulted in a good user experience, but chose to be honest. I hate the (1) cheat to win and vanquish your competitors
