This was made by Linden for their game Second Life, which allows players to exchange in game currency for real money (dollars, not crypto). Many players use the game as an income source. Linden had a problem, built a solution, and spun off

I think the idea is that they add out-of-game-world validation that the transferrable currencies have not been tampered with. Similar to how banks and financial institutions use multiple independent validation methods to prevent real world

I think the tricky part is turning the in game currencies back into real world currency. Most online games have ways of generating currency from "nothing" - either by design or exploit.

In gaming, 3rd party accessories are ones nit made by the manufacturer of the game system. The first party is the console manufacturer (Microsoft, Sony, Nintendo) and the second party is the end user. Logitech makes some great mice but thei

RealESRGAN is available as a command line tool you can run on a gaming PC. So you'd build a site that does image uploads and a worker process that upscales the images. That hardest parts are off the shelf open source libraries.

The Logitech F710 was not a "battle-tested" controller, it's a cheap third party controller of inferior quality. The official Microsoft controllers have serious R&D behind them, but not the Logitech ones.

> Modern Warfare 2, a 2022 remake of a game from 2009 Was it a remake? I played Modern Warfare (2019) recently and it was a completely different game than Modern Warfare (2007). Different plot, characters, settings and levels.

The Gladiator is a twist stick, no extra module required. I'd rather have the more accurate Gladiator without a throttle over the terribly imprecise X56.

FYI, it used to be that you could be added as a moderator to a subreddit without your consent, so people would add highly visible accounts like spez to objectionable subreddits

The Microsoft controller is significantly better, with millions of dollars of R&D behind it, and I bought mine for $35 a few years ago.

It's less than it's off the shelf and more that it's the cheap brand your mom might buy your little brother as a second controller because it's half the price of the first-party one.

They use the Microsoft controllers which have literally 7 digit R&D budgets, and have non-gaming use cases in mind. Not cheap off brand Logitech controllers.

And yet, the Logitech X56 is substantially more expensive than a VKB Gladiator...

Their game controllers are low quality. For example, home and professional desktop flight simulators prefer to use VKB or Virpil joysticks instead of Logitech or Thrustmaster.

I found a bit in Ben Rich's memoirs that said their US supplier for titanium alloys didn't have enough available for them, so they had to purchase from worldwide sources.

That part of the article is wrong- I just opened my copy of Ben Rich's memoirs and it says they needed alloy, not ore. Apparently their US supplier had insufficient quantities.
