The real pros will use data centre GPUs like the MI300. I think local ML will become huge in games

Exactly - users would flock to it. They have to compete with Nvidia somehow and I don't see what other edge they could have - massive disadvantage on the software side that has to be compensated for in some way

I think vram is one thing they can beat Nvidia on. Both on the pro and consumer GPUs. Just put 48gb into a consumer GPU and everyone would flock to AMD and help build their software side

they've had a long time to get ML working as well as with CUDA and CuDNN, mostly failed attempts so far. How close are they?

politically yes - culturally or socially I don't see it a divergence. Very similar to rest of Europe

agree, I think it could take 7-10+ years for either (deep geothermal or SMRs) to be viable at scale. But once they are, it should hopefully solve carbon neutral heating for good - in areas with district heating at least. Steady Energy is a

Heating is perhaps unsurprisingly a large part of overall energy consumption in the Northern hemisphere. Helsinki shut down one coal plant used for district heating this spring and is shutting down the last remaining one next spring, well a

REDengine doesn’t do multiplayer at the moment, but it could in the future if they kept developing it / more games with it. I’m sure they’ll make great games with Unreal too

One is a small company developing a city builder in Unity, the other are ex demoscene GPU gods building a custom state-of-the-art engine themselves. Nuff said!

Some extremely good GPU devs in Finland, demoscene prob has a lot to do with it. Remedy rocks. Isn’t CD Projekt Red moving to UE5 for future titles? Shame, Cyberpunk was gorgeous - would have loved a multiplayer game with that engine.

It’s called living on the dole, most western countries have social security like this. It’s not really meant for long term living but as a safety net for periods when you might find yourself unemployed. Also, most countries have very cheap

Scalable CCU at source in cement production would be great at getting the 8% or so of global emissions related to cement production down somewhat. Other ways of tackling cement production related emissions are less CO2 producing alternative

Had another weird refresh rate bug with 14.1 - external display doesn’t have a HDR option in settings at 120hz anymore - only works with HDR if I change the refresh rate 100hz or lower. Was fine in earlier MacOS

Perhaps it could also be argued their patent covers cameras and their manufacturers, not 3rd party software that users can install on their phones? Also don’t think MotionCam has enough users for their lawyers to care. Either way thank you

The sensor size is the limiting factor here re: noise performance and dynamic range, but the iPhone does better than most with some ML and other “computational photography” tricks for denoising that other small sensor cameras don’t have. An

I have both the original BMPCC and the 4k Pocket. When the BRAW firmware came out (forced by RED patents - they for some obscure reason have been able to patent compressed raw video) I did extensive tests - there is no discernible differenc

You'll get decent results but it won't be as good as with dSLRs and polarised studio light - if you want super detailed textures, be able to relight them etc
