I strongly disagree with the assertion that chess is a "close to solved game" in human OTB play in particular. Top GMs currently will probably score 0/12 against Leela/Stockfish. We see innovations frequently in recent y

The point of the "backspace navigates back" extension is that alt+left is not how people were used to going back on websites.

I'd be 100% against it if this were any app besides one created in China. With all the spyware and protectionist policies there I don't mind so much the ban of Tiktok.

Safari hunters currently achieve the 'spiral horned grand slam' by killing just nine types of antelope. Recent developments in taxonomy could see them wanting to kill 25, and targeting smaller populations to do so.

Agreed, some degree of personal responsibility is needed in the case of addictive behavior. Robinhood in that aspect (gamification) falls into the same category as gambling, and the only difference is that is that it comes from the Bay Area

Absolutely incredible. I clicked on the link expecting nowhere near that level of detail. One of the pictures even shows individual wires on the landing gear. I'm thoroughly impressed by the dedication here.

As an aside, I'm of the opinion that selective censorship marginalizes groups that don't readily have representation at companies like Google. I'm talking about with terms like "redneck" or even "dumb American&

Is it right to let the transgressions of the founder color the quality of the product the employees worked to make, or worse, the employees themselves? Let's not rush to judgement. Sexual harassment is wrong, yes, but that doesn't

Unfortunately, most pet shelters get more pets than their facilities are able to handle. Unless they're a no-kill shelter (in order to be considered one they need to kill <10%), they will need to euthanize in order to make room for

How is that value determined though? It's just by what people think the stock is worth. If you have more money coming in to the market the listed companies' stocks will naturally be at a higher price point.

Simple doesn't mean boring. There are many, many nuances that are only realized after playing at higher levels, and many more we haven't discovered yet as evidenced by the engines.

I think it's a vocal minority that promotes those ideas and the rest follow because it's career suicide to go against it. I'm quite patriotic but not quite brave enough to go against the grain at this time.
