WebRTC is some of the lowest latency streaming you can get, so I would imagine any realtime event with a large broadcasting audience would benefit. Interactive/2-way though, that's another story.

I used to play a lot of videogames (specifically LoL but also any big anticipated titles I was interested in). I think for me it was for a few reasons: * I had far, far less stuff to do. I was in an easy degree path without a job, and surro

At least a welder actually welds stuff during their day-to-day. Still looking for a job that needs people who can implement efficient graph traversals though.

It's not strictly answering your question, but there's a middle ground between "cooking for 2 hours and having to clean up a devastated kitchen" and "eating out for every meal." I have trouble getting the motiv

In general it sounds like you are doing what I would do (show them that it can be introduced gradually/non-disruptively, and what problems it solves). However, you can't always do a whole lot to change a culturally embedded prejud

A LinkedIn profile has been a big source of leads for me. I have a never ending stream of recruiters I can respond to if I feel like doing interviews. My Github profile has come in handy once or twice. Recently I used it to do a code walk t

I actually have a Bluetooth device that attaches to my steering wheel with play/pause and scrubbing buttons to let me control my phone's music while driving. It's rough but usable. I think it's a great way to retrofit co

Speaking from personal experience, zlib and libjpeg are almost certainly running on satellites in space right now. Dependencies like this are often vendored and seldom updated though, so your contributions may take a while to actually make

More than bash I'd say knowing how to effectively use the coreutils is a superpower. I don't know how to do basic control flow in bash without looking it up, but putting together pipelines of various tools has saved me lots of tim

One time, a CHP car turned its lights off and deliberately hung out in my blind spot for a few miles on the 405. I can only assume they were waiting for me to do something they could use as an excuse to pull me over.

Funny, I remember as a child wondering how my parents knew how to get where we were going. I saw the green lights on the dash (and couldn't see the signal lever from the backseat) and just thought that the car was smart enough to give

My last job was I think maybe a somewhat less common story than I see here. I definitely did want more money and could see the raises begin to slow down as I reached the upper half of my pay band. What really had me looking though was that

C++ has `std::bitset` for when the length is known ahead of time [0]. Otherwise, `std::vector<bool>` _may_ be specialized to occupy one bit per element [1]. [0]: https://en.cppreference.com/w/cpp/utility/

While I enjoy jazz, I can at least agree that this particular example is not very listenable for the uninitiated. The pace is quick, and the backing under Pat's solo is very sparse - just some drums and a quick walking bass, the keyboa

Right, I suppose I forgot that a big reason `Result` works well in Rust is the `?` operator. At the very least, I'll appreciate having some more sugar over loops that are essentially just map/filter.

Very reasonable caveats for a feature as big as generics. Personally, I'm super excited for the potential generics has to make error handling in Go less noisy, so I'll be attempting to use it ASAP.
