Well it sounds like it’s a web standard and clones a heck ton of browser objects that ECMAScript wouldn’t be able to require it to clone. But yes, I suppose requiring it to exist and work on non-host objects in ECMAScript would be ideal!

Yes, but, operations like, “Does this node have children or is it a leaf?” should not require reading the entire array. Or, how many children; get the first child. Traversing the tree in pre-order or post-order doesn’t just have less ca

It really isn't so big a deal; the author of this post is spreading fear, in a way. For example, saying that you need "real world data" to catch "edge cases" like this... no, proper unit tests will do just fine. Al

Yes, I get the impression it only runs on Linux? And we're supposed to infer that by the fact that it's "distro-agnostic" and sometimes the word Free is capitalized in the middle of a sentence. Because if you're i

Exactly! Nothing is like we would have expected. The seeming “understanding” and coherency of LLMs is a surprise, and it doesn’t seem like anyone knows exactly what it means about human language and cognition. It’s possible that by analyzi

I don't think it's relevant that other industries have their own kinds of evil—isn't that just whataboutism? Tech is trying to "disrupt" and remake our society in ways and to an extent that other sectors aren'

For me, when Musk suddenly went far-right, and I realized that Thiel et al. kind of all shared the same philosophy (described in the article as "Libertarianism for me. Feudalism for thee"), it made me suspect that at the top of Si

My understanding (not an expert) is that the time for a LLM to produce an output is linear in the length of the output, but may not be in the length of the input (i.e. context). It may be quadratic in the context, or using some kind of fan
