I'm objecting to the comment that the remaining board has little to lose. It's possible for sufficiently motivated investors, former board members, and employees to make their life awfully miserable.

The investors have extremely deep pockets and good lawyers. I would not want to be on that board even with very good D&O insurance. It's not bulletproof, and a lawsuit by Altman, in particular, could be excluded from coverage and f

An interesting race will be improvements to the local oscillator versus continued size and power reductions for grabbing a GPS signal every hour to correct your clock. No predictions here, though, of course, an increasing number of watches

Increased friction -> uses more gas/energy. Complicated the mechanical design; more moving parts you have to maintain in a more crowded area.

There's a secondary cost savings in reduced health care costs from the extra exercise. (May not apply in all countries, but does for the US/Europe).

They don't just allow them, in some cases, they own them.(ex: at&t owns Cricket). There's a lot of price discrimination happening to try to get people to pay their maximum price for service. For example, I'm on Fi with my

Or a pi zero, if you want to stay in raspberry land and/or trade higher power draw for a fair bit more SRAM.

The difference is that the wavelengths in which they reflect and emit are different. Where you emit, you absorb. White paint has a lower solar reflectance because it emits and absorbs across a broader band. The better PRDC coatings absorb&#

Countries have proven far more reticent to use kinetic options vs. cyberattacks. Or, put differently, we're all hacking each other left and right and the responses have thus far mostly remained in the digital realm. See, e.g., https:&

I mean, you kinda can. There's a depressingly thriving market for stolen cards and things like compromised accounts. A card is a couple of dollars. There are many jurisdictions that turn a blind eye to hacking us companies. Look at how

You can exploit this from a single core shared instance. So you go and find yourself a thousand cheap / free tier accounts, spin up an instance in a few regions each, and boom, you've taken out 10k physical hosts. And run it in a

It's not super-valuable yet, but it would keep you mount a really nasty DoS on cloud providers by triggering hard resets of the physical machines. Some people would probably pay for that, though it's obviously more interesting to

The short answer is that it would be underground or in domes for the foreseeable future. The long answer is that people have lots of clever thoughts about how they might achieve it, although none of them are yet practical: https:/

This article is a fairly terrible summary, particularly when it comes to explaining the really neat thing about these coatings: It's not just that they reflect a lot of inbound light, they also radiate heat in a part of the infrared sp

The algorithms to calculate all of the digits use o(n) memory. This uses o(1). It's always nifty when you can trade time for memory like that.

They undoubtedly limit the % of bandwidth you can use when the link is full. The problem with that is that it's very hard to quantify, because whether or not they have spare bandwidth for you depends a lot on location, timing, and what
