I'd take that tinnitus treatment in a heartbeat. The drumming-on-the-back-of-the-skull trick lasts just long enough for me to realize what the world could sound like. (I tend to not do it anymore due to the mild depression I get real

When I was in high school, every teacher before every test or quiz would clear all of the stored programs on our calculators. A lot of the other students were upset that they would lose all of their games!

In most places I've been, Terraform was used more for documentation than mobility. Sure, you don't need to unlearn Cloudformation if you switch to GCP, but you have a ton of AWS-specific stuff in your TF config that's going t

Oh, ha! So much for my reading comprehension. Thanks for the link. I think that should be compatible with a Pi. I can try it out in a couple weeks when I get some free time to tinker.

Our team started moving to Bazel two years ago with 0.21 or something. Python support is much, much better these days. We’re building Python with requirements and packing it into Docker containers. It went from “maybe run stdlib Python in a

Looks like the article stops just short of an example that requires a nasty amount of escape sequences and single quotes. If I need to do anything more complex than what the author is discussing I just reach for Python’s shlex.quote() funct

I don’t do a lot of front end dev. Just some personal projects here and there and I usually just slap Bootstrap on it to make things look reasonable. I had to do a bit for work and man, when I started actually reading the docs I was surpris

It’s like playing roulette. Will they know what’s inside of the food they make? I don’t mean this as a dig, sometimes it is difficult. Most places don’t make _absolutely everything_ from scratch. There are various sauces and bases that they

I'd always thought that it was just a "nice" way to hide processing/network latency. I'd certainly prefer some small chirp of acknowledgement, but I think we need to reduce latency first.

Spacemacs uses “Evil mode”[1], which is available just as a regular (MELPA) package. I started with Vim and so I’ve always used evil. “Vanilla” emacs, spacemacs, now doom. [1] https://github.com/emacs-evil/evil

You can get out of Austin pretty quick. 30 mins in some directions can get you out of the metro area. Also, 5k sqft is 1/10 of an acre. That said, I don’t know anything about land prices in Texas right now.
