Where can I get a good understanding of the limitations of SQLite for production use cases? I’ve used it frequently for prototyping, but the dialect is different enough from Postgres, that I usually switch over pretty early. But for product

What a strange website. The article was written in a unique voice, so I wanted to find more from the author to get a better picture of their perspective. But all bios (that I checked) are dead ends (leading to general social media accounts)

So I requested a quote from GeoLinks (bay area). They responded with a quote for business, to which I replied: > Residential quote, please. [EOM] They concluded: > Thank you for contacting GeoLinks! We have received your inquiry rega

Do you write web applications in Haskell? It’s not clear where the community is, and that’s troublesome because for those not well oriented with Haskell, the adventure is solitary. MS seems to be doing a bit of Rust these days, so I kind of

It’s unclear what the trade offs are. Much improved IO, but what’s the cost? I can’t imagine there’s a free lunch.

A good first reach is encoding your CI into a first class construct - ideally in the language of your codebase. CI paths are underdeveloped, which IMO is a huge miss: you pay a developer premium and potentially risk every iteration. Keep

You’re missing the ingredient of time. Software (as an industry) was born with the right structure. That’s why it moves so quickly. Other industries (incl. research) need to fix internal problems before they can accelerate, i.e. tightening

I’ve been reading the pills (tutorials) and it’s actually been pretty nice. You just have to realize it’s more complicated than mapping JSON <> YAML. https://nixos.org/guides/nix-pills/

It’s vanity. Once you figure out how to come up with ideas, it’s really easy to have them - always and everywhere. But that’s really the first stage of the funnel. I don’t believe quality of ideas is even most useful, but instead your flexi

I use Siri all the time and am half your dads age. “Get directions to the nearest gas station.”, “What’s the score of the Giant’s game?”, “Play Master of Puppets”, “What is 4’3” in centimeters?” And many, many more.

Very interesting. I’m not sure if it’s actually the case, but I end up doing a ton of maintenance on BUILD files every day. I’ve become a sort of mini-master of designing target DAGs - in a way that’s upfront costly, but pays for itself ove

What weight is nix carrying here? I’ve seen Haskell packages fully composed(?) using nix, and nix is supposed to be hermetic, too. Right? I’m more familiar with Bazel. Though I don’t “love it”, I spend plenty of time with it every day. Gaze

I just wish the panels would default hide. I run bazel sync and half my window is build logs until I get around to closing them. If it’s not in active use, maybe after 5s, get it out of the way of code.

I’d wager it’d work just fine in a university setting. 10 references per paper, 10 papers per student, 200 students in a course. I doubt anyone is fetching and fact checking 2000 links a semester.

The discussion is about EU forcing Apple to play ball. The discussion should be about how the EU just mandated a monopoly for the USB-IF. For Apple detractors, this is a hollow victory.

You may be right, but that’s a sad ordeal: your boss is an arbiter of your social interactions? That’s not healthy for you (those people), not for society, and especially not for local communities.
