The question needs expansion. What is the OP's definition of best? Why does it matter to the OP that it's open source (would your org contribute back)? Would specific family of licenses matter? And in what problem domain do the to

Ansible and Docker are orthogonal technologies. Docker buys you repeatable, application packaging to solve dev/prod parity. Ansible can then become your orchestration tool, doing the heavy lifting to manage not just containers, but hos

Totally agree here: the patterns and the tooling are not quite there yet. The concerns you raised are exactly the areas we struggled in when we moved to Docker. Our newer apps tend to be written with containerization in mind, though we also

Sorry for the typos, I was typing this on mobile. I meant "confirmed functional bug report"; and by that I mean a reproducible scenario that actually is caused by faulty code path leading to wrong result/behaviour. Usually, i

Wait, you seem to equate a runtime exception as a bug, which to me are two different but related concepts. Directly posting every single exception raised to your bug tracker is a sure fire way to flood and overwhelm you. Logging to unfuddle

Just skimmed, TLDR, the article and IDC links is slim on the technical details. The DOST arm of the gov't has a little more detailed doc here: http://icto.dost.gov.ph/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/Free-

This. Our most recent project was engineered to leverage Docker and Ansible in this manner. We have a single playbook to deploy everything, i.e. deploy multiple (micro)services, heavily using docker images pulled from a private registry. Wi

That's fast. Though yes, our use case involves reverse geo of full street level addresses. Currently we do several 10s to 100s of req/s on nominatim. The sibling thread asked about using OSM data; it'd be awesome if street le

Starred. We're currently using nominatim + osm data + postgis on our own hosted servers. Can this be a good alternative?

I remember some years ago, I needed to quickly prototype a proof of concept php project, and the first thing I did was find a django templating library for php; simply because I was lazy to learn back Smarty's syntax.

+1 to reverse geocoding support. Our app runs around 25k/day reverse geocode calls to OSM and Mapquest's Nominatim. We are projecting up to 4x growth within the year so an accurate, bulk and cheap service will help ease our pain.

I recently viewed a few of their videos and I find them too short, seemingly lacking. It might depend on the audience though. In my case, a little theory and architectural overview works better, and the official docs cover this well enough.

I have a strong conviction that they will! See all the hard work made and focus on the right stuff (durability, ReQL, ui, auto sharding+clustering, etc.)
