Define "worth it", but I've written a blog post about some printer driver issue two years ago and it now happened twice that someone (Older person, not very technical) reached out over email and asked for some further help an

There's also http://irccloud.com , it's paid and includes a bouncer and mobile apps but I've switched to that from my self-hosted ZNC + Textual ( https://www.codeux.com/textual/ ) setup and it&#

Can only encourage you, I'm mostly working with Go but all my side projects are with Rails which I've only started a few years ago. It's a lot of fun. I'm not a big fan of watching tutorials, but more of learning by doin

Sometimes spending engineering time for content marketing is worth more than implementing some feature that's not needed for the early adopters.

And Chrome had one with severity "High" just three days ago, browsers will always have security issues that seem to be patched reasonably fast in the big three. Might as well pick one that's not part of the monoculture by a b

Why should anyone vendor a dependency in a critical functionality for three lines of code ( https://codeberg.org/prettyid/js/src/branch/master/lib/index... )?

Any widespread recent security issues that were only affecting Safari and Firefox? That sounds like scaremongering to me.

Simplest solution is Firefox or Safari, not another Chromium browser or niche Firefox Fork.

These tools always felt like a chore to me that didn’t really provide any value to me. Felt the same as “productivity” tools that people pay for to feel like they are doing something. Now I’m just using a banking app ( https://mon

Very different experience for me, I’ve tried to switch to DDG many times and always switched back to Google after being disappointed. Using Kagi for a year now and only a handful of times I’ve checked if Google would give better results.

I’ve recently looked into tools like that, I have a busy Postgres table that has a lot of updates on one column and it’s overwhelming Debezium. I’ve tried many things and looked into excluding them from replication with a publication filter

Same feeling, I’m usually a Go developer but all my side projects are in Rails. It’s just fun to work with and see how fast things are up and running. Using gorails.com and Copilot helped a lot too.

You don’t have to choose between big tech and self hosting though. There’s thousands of medium sized, sustainable businesses that host your email for money and provide human support on top. One of the good ones would be Fastmail but there’s

They are YouTubers not auditors, even auditors have a hard time figuring out if companies are legit or not (Wirecard). Why would a YouTuber or influencer be able to do that task as a side thing when getting advertising deals?
