That might have been a possibility if brought forward in an open and reasonable way, a bit harder to trust someone once they just vibe adopted the project someone was working on for decades and didn't seen an issue with that. Also &quo

Everyone can post any website on HN, it's not like they have shared it widely and said that it's done. The website literally says "Soft Launch" in the title. > "For now, this is a pilot using Forgejo, an open-sou

Their terminal is just Alacritty, why would you do all these extra steps instead of just using Alacritty, or Ghostty? The terminal emulator was never their selling point, the AI wrapper was. https://x.com/mitchellh/stat

People suggesting git bug and other solutions miss one important part that also makes GitHub sticky: They have an app, being able to look at issues on your phone, getting notifications and being able to review things there is worth a lot.

Yes, but this time there’s the additional driving force of countries trying to become more self reliant and not get locked into US software giants (France and Germany for example). A long way to go, but it’s gaining more traction than the p

GitHub needs a Sonos moment, after they launched their failed new app that made everyone angry and leave they got a new person in and I've seen them actively respond to issues on BlueSky with honest responses and not corporate fluff ev

I always had a hard time with that and kept things running for too long as putting additional work into shutting something down when you already lost interest is a hard sell. Now I usually just add a static landing page, some screenshots ho

I find that to be a very defeatist take. It always mattered how much value you provide to the business. Writing pretty code or arguing about some implementation detail never really mattered. If you are good at coming up with solutions to pr
