It is really disappointing how much of the previous feeling of open source ethos seems to disappear every time Mozilla updates anything over the last few years. I am not involved enough to know what kind of changes or politics are responsib

Yeah, I don't think there's anything wrong with that pattern, but it is an unpleasant experience when trying out the game. Perhaps make it obvious via the UI that these are premium items when selecting them?

Clicked "Play Now", made my little avatar, and it immediately told me to pay money. Not a great first experience.

This reminded me of one of my first web-dev projects as a teenager - the first one I showed my (recently passed) father, in which you were prompted to ask "Chuck Norris" a yes or no question with a text box, and then would present

That kind of sarcasm is not just saying the opposite of what you mean. It’s an attempt to compel the reader into understanding their own flawed rationale by presenting an argument under the reader’s pretense that is obviously flawed. An ado

I would guess it’s in response to the recent market studies showing that the general public views anything labeled “AI” as a likely scam and untrustworthy.

Does not surprise me at all - just because too much of something is bad for you does not mean that some amount of it isn’t essential for bodily function.

A bug is generally treated as undefined and undesirable side effects of a program. Hallucinations are undesirable but not undefined. We know that the process creates them and expect them. It’d be like using floats to calculate dollars and c

Seems like the premise you’re going with here is a false dichotomy. There’s no reason this project had to issue parking violations from launch - it could issue soft warnings and get the same feedback from impacted civilians to fix the issue

This is a disturbingly common practice - I have seen videos on Reddit, YouTube and the like that show moments captured from cameras obviously mounted inside children’s bedrooms with a cloud service company’s logo on the feed.

I believe that often times the PIP is an attempt to get more value out of an employee that you would otherwise replace with offshore resources. i.e. "Maybe if we spook them, we can get the work of two people out of them for a while.&qu
