iMessage chats also include rich media that is either degraded in MMS (photos, videos unless you have RCS support) or just doesn't exist (like multiplayer games, invites, apple cash, etc). This may not seem like a big deal to you, but

"Mutual Respect" is the key term here for sure, and I wholeheartedly agree. I have worked for a lot of employers that did not respect me, and I, despite all intentions, eventually came to not respect them with my work effort. My c

I had a similar experience once when I drove a Prius. Walked out of the grocery store, hit the unlock button, got into my car, then wondered why the seat was too far forward - before realizing it was not my Prius.

If you are going to refuse to actually look at what the term means and insist that you are correct there is no conversation to be had.

I would suggest that you do some actual reading of anthropology - or just look up what the term “nuclear family” means and where it started. I am willing to bet you will be fairly shocked at how recent it is, given your comment.

The nuclear family is neither a natural nor ubiquitous relationship, though. Any other dynamic of social support - whether it be manipulative or freeing - may likely subvert it.

This doesn’t seem to stop Teslas competition in self-driving cars from implementing it; and succeeding far more in safety and functionality while doing so.

It was a valid experiment and pushed computer vision but it clearly failed a long time ago. The fact that Teslas are not only still sold without lidar but “autopilot” is pushed as safe is disgusting. People will die (and have already died)

Both “Principle 1” and “Principle 2” in the article are essentially LLM-focused details of basic principles in ML that have been known since before I (and probably you, if you’re still working age) were born.

Can you explain why you think this? I’m curious. Humans don’t encounter an infinite loop problem because we are not “process-bound” - we may spend too long on a task but ultimately we are constantly evaluating whether or not we should conti

I don’t believe quantum computers can solve the halting problem, so I don’t think that would actually help. This issue will likely always require a monitor “outside” of the agent.

Given the misunderstandings and explanation of how they struggled with a long-solved ml problem, I believe this article was likely written by someone without much formal experience in AI. This is probably a case where some educational train

An HTTP packet is a packet sent over TCP for an HTTP request. IoT vendors like to re-use HTTP and build custom protocols on top of it. Pedantry isn't useful or helpful here.

I think it’s quite the opposite because it would not be a gene that allows you to survive on less food - it would be a gene that favors replacing glycogen stores over lipid stores. That kind of mechanism would be pretty negative to survival

I’ve run into a similar effect when reverse engineering custom http packet protocols - the ones that have a unique pattern to the data structure are often easier to discern the usefulness of at a glance before even extracting the data I’m l

This presupposes that VC firms generally know what is more likely to succeed, which is demonstrably wrong and the entire reason that the “eggs” are put into so many different baskets every season.

This is similar to how I censor images on a cellphone. I use an editor to cover what I want to censor with a black spot, then take a screenshot of that edited image and delete the original.

I am getting fairly tired of seeing articles about LLMs that claim “[insert criticism] was wrong” but offer nothing other than the opinion of the author’s interpretation of a collection of other people’s writings with limited veracity.

We have viruses in animals that reproduce using the mitochondria already, but don’t exclusively target the mitochondria. I believed these were categorized as mitoviruses but I was mistaken.
