I don’t work on the frontend very often, I think the last time I did so was when bootstrap was “the tailwind”, but when I recently had to cover for one of our react developers I got to work with it. I genuinely didn’t think there was a diff

I’ve never seen any actual metrics on it that weren’t pseudoscience at best. If you have some I would genuinely like to see them. From my anecdotal experience YAGNI and making sure it’s easy to delete everything is the only way to build las

This is how it is in Denmark as well. Here the general rule of thumb is that any non-managing employee is 70-100k in expense a year. For some specialist workers it’a a little higher, but that is the general cost when you include sick days,

The only absolute rule that you’ll ever need is that you probably won’t need the abstraction you’re thinking about. To be frank though, it started with putting a function into a new module or class. I think the list is rather bad as a whole

Well… any form of serious organisation should frankly house their own Mastodon instance so that they are not moderated by a big tech company. I’m Danish, I’m not a fan of right wing politics but at the same time I find it absolutely insane

I think boring is mostly a bad terminology for stable in these sort of arguments. Which means you get to actually focus on doing work. This author is apparently a fan of Go as an example of what they probably consider a “boring” technology

Our internal metrics show a decrease in productivity when more inexperienced developers use AI, and an increase when experienced developers with 10+ years use it. We see a decrease in code quality across experience levels which needs to be

It’s two decades of experience speaking. I didn’t speak about managers though. I was a manager for a couple of years before my undiagnosed ADHD made itself know when I had my first baby. Management has nothing to do with project management.

We’ve been a pretty solid TS, C#, C and C# shop which was in the process of moving some TS and all of our C# to Go to make our language package smaller. Go was a good choice for us, it’s not better than C# in any way. Then we had some organ

I don’t think CI/CD should really be a big worry as far as mono-repositories go as you can setup different pipelines and different flows with different configurations. Something you’re probably already doing if you have multiple repos.
