Seriously. It's absolute trash. I don't even want to think about how much time I've lost waiting for startup and teardown operations. Edit: Before you downvote me too heavily, go give the issues list a thorough read. Some of

I am sure this is true for some, but certainly not all. In a way, I am quite anxious about what I share because it’s all so... permanent... and personal. I miss a more anonymous web where impermanence _felt_ real, even if it wasn’t. On the

I seem to remember suicide being considered cool in the grunge era of the 90s, especially after Kurt Cobain took his life. I wonder if there’s data on that.

I don’t know the law of which you speak, but the risk of not catching an ugly vulnerability after posturing themselves as a secure platform all over the media could easily cost them a lot more than 1M. That’s why their bounty is actually a

I’ll say it once more. This isn’t that big of a bounty when you consider what Apple’s iPhone security crew make on average/year.

Eh, I think that’s a bit presumptuous. There can be honor among thieves.

I don’t know this market well, but I do know what a 3% dip in Apple’s stock price means, so it seems rather obvious that Apple’s incentive to know of vulnerabilities prior to their sale in an alternative market is worth a lot more than 1M.

I agree it’s a smart move, but I don’t know that I agree with the figure. Anyone who claims this bounty could make 500k+ at Apple without question. In some ways it seems like a recruitment exercise.

Agreed. People talking in the top-rated comments of this thread seem to think 1M is a lot of money for a vulnerability that could cost Apple lifetime customer value 10-100x the amount they’re offering in bounty.

They all can exist without it, and they all benefit from it. I see your aim in singling out shopping, but let’s not pretend that other services don’t provide signal to influencing the outcomes on shopping or flight purchase or whatever.

Apple salaries aren’t much of a secret, see: levels.fyi. 1M is a lot of money to me, a regular person, but when you consider that top security engineering talent could be making north of 500k in total compensation, 1M suddenly doesn’t seem

I can’t/won’t pay 500$/mo for news on all the sites I occasionally read. I want to pay 50$/mo to have a slightly higher cap than 5 articles/mo across all of them. Why doesn’t this exist?

If the solution could save hundreds of millions of dollars and is of import to Amazon, why would anyone give it away for 100k?

Which do you prefer? Some of the best stacks and code I’ve worked in wound up with stability issues that were a long series of changes that weren’t simple to rework. By contrast, I’ve worked in messy code, complex stacks, that gave great fe

I used to believe this. Having solid lower environments which are identical to production, receiving live traffic where engineers can stage changes and promote up removes some of the “all things should live on a branch” business. I know tha
