I've seen people extolling the many benefits of Kubernetes. For those who are all in, how does something like CDK compare?

I get a little annoyed at this notion of minor vs major. It's not binary. Subtle changes in tonality can shift back and forth between minor and major and diminished and augmented and so on. Most listeners will interpret a passage as &q

Yeah, and dumping firmware on OP-Z has proven extremely difficult if not impossible. It's encrypted in AES + CBC with an unknown key size. You can upload unencrypted firmware, but if you can't decrypt the original, well... good lu

It's nice to buy an instrument that ages well. A lot of synths do not hold their value once they leave the store shelf. The OP-1 managed to become something of a classic in a short period of time. If you're like me, you want to bu

I own an OP-1 and a mess of other synths. The Deluge comes close. I love my OP-1 for its size and portability. Being able to hack up a song on an airplane exclusively on one device rules.

Amazing that people chose to operationalize Kafka with this completely unnecessary dependency. Good riddance!

I worked on a project recently which had Kafka in it. Our first order of business was to completely remove it. I would bet good money that many projects on Kafka would benefit tremendously from simply removing it. It's wildly unnecessa

Good luck! You're time to market and the sunk cost fallacy are overwhelmingly against you.

I'm mid-30s and I'm equally tired of people without a whole lot of experience assuming they understand more about the world than they do.

This conversation is absolutely happening. Athens, for instance, is a clone of roam that is open source. It reminds me, however, of the conversation that happened about IRC vs Slack.

When I was learning to play the game Go, someone told me that there's some old advice about "losing your first 100 games as quickly as possible". That's stuck with me. Another one is (and I don't even know if it

For anyone interested in this kind of thing, definitely check out Syntorial[1]. If you want to tune your ear, it's quite helpful. Also, if you're interested in modular synths, you can tinker with VCV Rack[2] and virtually patch mo

The size of the company doesn’t matter. Small companies are not inherently less evil. You can have a company with no VC backing or shareholders and screw over your customers at every turn. The idea that the size of the organization is direc

Coffee makes me sick. I would never tell anyone they shouldn't drink it, but I think it's kind of a gross habit. Let the downvotes begin!

Too reductive on your last comment. I want to agree with you, but the world is complex. Money doesn't grow on trees, and there's only so much that even a well run business can do. Particularly in the early stages of a company.

I mean, I don't really know how "consistently high call quality" is not the most important feature of any video chat application. My experience on hangouts has always been garbage. Delays, choppy sound, my machine starts goin

I’m slightly confused. What about the current pandemic changed their business so much? Do people suddenly have less need for their apps? That seems unlikely. It seems like this has been coming for awhile. OmniGraffle missed the online diagr

It's disappointing to see a company that has better tech than its rivals playing these games. I have been singing Zoom's praises, but this really makes me want to look elsewhere. What a bummer.
