That level of audio separation is a really, really difficult problem. Here's hoping, though!

I remember packing jpegs with sub7 payloads and sending to my friends on AIM. The opening and closing on the CD tray is such a classic prank. Best part was that given I was usually the guy my friends and their parents called to fix their co

Thanks for your feedback and thoughtful reply! FWIW, I used quotes because the rose that grew from concrete is a poem, and a phrase that is not my own. My intention was to not pass it off as my own. What I should have done is quoted or refe

I disagree with this assessment I think, and am rather disappointed that this post was flagged. In the future (for me) it would be useful to understand exactly what is meant by "fulmination" in the site guidelines. The definition

When I was in my 20s I feel like I bounced back from burnout in about 6 weeks. At 36 it feels like it's taking quite a bit longer than that. The pandemic certainly hasn't helped.

I was surprised to see you downvoted. Did people forget that "digital nomad" was trending years prior to the pandemic?

As someone who has worked on exclusively remote teams for around 7 years, the pandemic accelerated the trend. It was already very much headed in that direction.

I'm excited for the Paul Graham post about "roses growing from concrete" or some equally ridiculous and juvenile claim that uses billionaires who make money off of creating dubious technology BUT WHO ALSO buy more girl scout

Wow, the ultrarich are donating their table scraps. I guess we shouldn't worry about taxing them after all. Edit to add: @rdxm -- my first thought was what you originally posted. If I could give you an upvote I would, rules or not.

This is FUD. Lots of Plaid-based connections only allow reads. This is a regulated industry, and the fallout reputationally might be tough, but consumers are well-protected.

Agreed they weren't bragging about it, but it is worth pointing out it's a horrible strategy and will probably produce a net loss over time unless you happen to be incredibly lucky.

"regrets confusion" is the most milquetoast, boilerplate response I could imagine. just apologize, even if people are blowing it out of proportion. this "whoops we did nothing wrong" line is insulting, even if it's

This proves the OP's point. Duolingo is trash if you aspire to fluency. It's only useful in fluency as an additive to a robust training program. You don't get fluent by following Duolingo alone.

True, but Shazam is a testament to what's achievable even without audio source separation. Even going back about 10 years when I first tried it, I was kind of stupefied that it managed to work in a noisy department store.

As someone who spent a ton of time playing UO, I really wish there had been a way to capture the experience of running various dungeons and hanging out in different towns c. 2000. You can still look around these virtual spaces today, but yo

In the case of inflation, your purchasing power will decrease. For example, there was a period during the 1940s (1941-1951) where if you held cash, t-bills, cash in a bank, or t-bonds instead of equities, you would have seen your purchasing

I have a feeling this will get me a downvote, but I grew up in a very blue collar town and the idea of paying one's dues is not crazy to me. I see a lot of people entering the tech market as if they don't have anything to prove, l

"Wild conspiracy theory"? Uh, what? It's exactly what happened where I live. At least half of our hospitalizations at peak were from neighboring areas that had no more capacity due to low or non-existent restrictions.
