ZFS data volume. Haven't tried root yet (wasn't easily available when I created the volume). Still, a data volume in ZFS is so much better than the traditional md raid. Won't go back.

Me too. I’ve been really surprised at how easy it is. Even migrating to a fresh OS was a breeze and didn’t require me backing up any configs.

Portability is key. There’s a reason these gnu tools have such staying power. It’s not necessarily because they’re the best, but because they’re ubiquitous.

This is actually not unusual in nature. Complex systems become more complex over time and resist becoming simpler. One day they instantly become simple again (collapse).

I like your thought framework but only as it exists within the electorate system. Without that system, a single city in a single state can jeopardize the entire system.

The math behind crypto doesn’t magically make you immune to government oversight. All they have to do is ask, and you better not lie.

Even despite the issues around A1 and A2, the read speeds on SD cards are just too slow, and will probably always be too slow. What the RPI needs is a simple m.2 slot for a "real" hard drive, which are getting cheaper and cheaper.

First of all congratulations. The great thing about being rich is that you only need to get rich once, then you need to preserve it. I’ll focus my comment about things often overlooked: Insurance. Medical, home, car, and umbrella insurance.

It's amazing to me that the whole article glosses over issues around key storage for symmetrical encryption, not to mention now you have an O(n) liability issue with all of your readers.

Your comment goes to the heart of the debate: does understanding what’s going on behind the scene of your tools help you become better at using them? I think for the vast majority of jobs it does not, but for a few it absolutely does.

If you apply for asylum at a port of entry you can be denied entry according to the law. If you wait until you’ve illegally crossed into the USA our laws make it very hard to be deported. I don’t blame or judge anyone. Like I said the laws

Maybe an unpopular opinion, but I think the $500k investment is a great idea. Why is it in our interest for that money to be invested elsewhere? I also think we should staple green-cards to the back of people who receive higher-education de

Relevant discussion: “ Linux users were only 0.1% of sales but 20% of crashes and tickets ”[1] I feel like in open source this tends to work itself out with community patches, but with closed source it can become a real pain. 1. https:
