Some popular blogs and news sites use facebook as a commenting system. I think it's worse that I can figure out exactly how a real life person feels. Giving someone anonymity makes them feel less significant in my perception of their

The non-energy activity sector of the economy has been growing at a rate much faster than the physical, energy-related activity sector of the economy. This type of decoupling is terrible and can only last for so long. I would suggest chec

There was an article on HN recently about how the STEM job-gap is a myth. In the article the author discusses how if there were in fact a job shortage in STEM careers, STEM wages would be driven up. Chand Johnson's article seems to g

This is absolutely true, however there are alternatives to companies that track you. Go to JCPenny and they don't force you to use a credit card to purchase some shoes. If you use cash, as opposed to a credit card, you won't be

This is a good breakdown. I was hoping there would be a difference between the two other than just a reason to make a program for a buzz word. Thanks for this.

Do you mean Kolmogorov-Sinai entropy? I just read about this in Chaos Theory Tamed by Garnett P. Williams. Really interesting stuff with respect to information theory in dynamical systems.

The difference here is that an all-nighter Thursday and then hackathon Friday will not be happening every week, or result in a 100 hour work week. These kids are literally doing 90+ hours every week for three months. A hackathon once in a

I think it was April when someone hacked the Associated Press account, tweeted that the White House just exploded and the Dow dropped a ton in a short amount of time. That's pretty scary. source: http://www.nbcnews.com/

I believe Zeppelin's have gone the way of the steam engine for the same reason. It's simply an unstable platform of transportation. Steam engines used to blow up all the time and Helium is extremely flammable.
